Roughriders vs. Lions Prediction: CFL Week 7 Point Spread, Odds
This will be the second game of the home and home series between these two teams. Last weekend the Roughriders scored 21 second half points to knock off the Lions 38-25.
After this game, these two teams will not see each other until the middle of October.
CFL Odds and Betting
The Lions are one of two teams (Argos) who have not won a home game this year. Perhaps that will end on Saturday. The Roughriders are 1-3-1 against the spread in the five games in BC.
At the start of the season, the Lions were one of the favourites to win the Grey Cup paying +301 at Sports Interaction. Currently online the Lions check in at +6600. As for the Roughriders, prior to the season they were middle of the pack at +745 to win the Grey Cup, they are still in the middle now paying +1000.
The under could be the play in this game, as the two teams combine for a 19-7 record to the under in the last 26 games in BC. Be aware, last week in Regina the two teams put up 63 points in a shootout.
Saskatchewan Roughriders
Former Lions backup Cody Fajardo had his way against his former team last weekend, throwing for 278 yards (17-of-23) and a pair of touchdowns.
Fajardo’s favourite target was Shaq Evans, who hauled in five catches for a personal-best 158 yards (31.6 yards per catch) and a touchdown.
Defensive lineman Charleston Hughes was a CFL top performer of the week, and what a week it was. Hughes recorded 10 tackles, three sacks and forced two fumbles. Hughes leads the CFL in sacks with eight on the season, four more than team mate A.C. Leonard who is tied for second on the sack leaders list.
BC Lions
It’s been a dismal start to the season for the team that was one of the busiest in free agency. The last thing the Lions want to do this weekend is fall to 1-6 on the season. Head Coach DeVone Claybrooks has hope, telling the media earlier this week, “I have all the ingredients for this soup and I’m just trying to season it to get the right taste.”
To avoid this, the Lions must provide protection for Quarterback Mike Reilly. He will be the key to any success the Lions have this season. But, he’s been sacked a league-high 21 times this season.
The silver lining in all of this? The Lions remember a 1-6 start during the 2011 season led to a Grey Cup Championship. Time will tell if this version of the Lions can rattle off 10 for their next 11 games, but it starts at home on Saturday afternoon.
