Roughriders vs. Blue Bombers Prediction: CFL Week 20 Point Spread, Odds
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will look to punch their ticket to the playoffs when they host the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Week 20.
It’s the Bombers’ second shot a clinching the playoffs after they failed to do so in a 25-20 loss in Edmonton last week. The Riders have already secured first in the West Division, so they’re expected to rest several starters ahead of the playoffs.
With Saskatchewan having nothing to play for, it’s Winnipeg that’s a sizeable 7-point favourite to win on the CFL odds, with the total pegged at 48.5.
CFL Odds and Betting
The Roughriders won the first two games of the season series, 34-30 at home in Week 13 and 21-13 in Winnipeg the following week.
While Saskatchewan is 6-2 both straight up and against the spread on the road this season, take all of their stats with a grain of salt as several starters won’t suit up.
The Bombers will look to improve a home record that has seen them go 5-2 SU and 4-3 ATS. This breaks a five-year streak of Winnipeg winning the division.
The updated CFL futures board has the Riders and Alouettes as co-favourites to win the Grey Cup at +300 each. The Bombers are far down the list at +1000.
Saskatchewan Roughriders
With Saskatchewan expected to rest multiple starters, including quarterback Trevor Harris, it will be backup Jake Maier under centre in Week 20. In Maier’s only start of the season back in Week 4, he completed 13 of 23 passes for 170 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions.
There’s a bit of uncertainty over who Maier will be able to target as Saskatchewan’s receiving group is banged up. KeeSean Johnson (knee) and Dohnte Meyers (ankle) have each surpassed 1,000 receiving yards this season, but likely won’t play this week.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Winnipeg has been hot and cold all season and that was on full display over the last two weeks as they blew out Hamilton 40-3 but followed it up with a surprise loss in Edmonton. Injuries and inconsistency have been the stories surrounding this team all year, which has led them to the middle of the pack in terms of most major statistics.
The Bombers need a win this week and with Saskatchewan resting key players on the defensive line, you should expect a big game from Winnipeg running back Brady Oliveira. The Winnipeg native secured his fourth straight 1,000-yard rushing season and he’s averaging just under 108 rushing yards per game over the last four weeks.
