Roughriders vs. Blue Bombers Prediction: CFL Week 14 Point Spread, Odds

The Riders stunned Winnipeg in a 34-20 upset victory as 7-point home underdogs when these two teams met last weekend in Saskatchewan. With that victory, the Roughriders improved to 3-1 straight up and against the spread over their past four contests, but have fallen to defeat by double-digit margins in three straight road outings. Last week’s shocking defeat snapped the five-game win streak that vaulted the Blue Bombers to the top of the CFL West standings. However, Winnipeg has been dominant at home, where the squad has claimed victory by an average margin of 23.3 points while winning four straight.

The Blue Bombers have held steady since opening as 8.5-point favourites on the CFL Week 14 odds. The Roughriders lag as a distant +325 moneyline bet to extend their current win streak, and the total is unchanged since opening at 48.5.

CFL Odds and Betting

Monday afternoon’s matchup marks the third and final regular season meeting between these CFL West rivals. With last week’s loss, the Bombers saw an eight-game head-to-to-head win streak snapped, but have avoided dropping consecutive decisions to Saskatchewan during an 11-3 run that began almost five years ago. The Blue Bombers have also topped the Riders in nine of 10 dates on home turf, and have limited Saskatchewan to just 11.5 points per game while winning their past seven. Recent meeting between these squads have tended towards high scoring. Last week’s 32-3- win by the Riders marked the third time in four meetings that the total has eclipsed 60. Accordingly, the OVER is currently on a 3-1 run after failing to pay out in the previous 10 matchups between these teams.

Saskatchewan Roughriders

After squandering an early 10-point lead, the Roughriders needed a last-minute field goal to force overtime in last weekend’s date with Winnipeg, and managed to eke out the win by stopping a two-point conversion attempt after allowing the Blue Bombers to score on their first overtime possession. The win extended an offensive resurgence for the Riders, who have now averaged 28.5 points over their past four outings after scoring 13 or fewer points in four of their first seven games of the season. However, Jake Dolegala has continued to produce inconsistent results since taking over under centre. Dolegala appeared to break through with his three-TD performance in the team’s 34-29 win over BC in Week 11, but failed to find the end zone against Winnipeg completing just 22 of 39 pass attempts. That left the task of generating points in the hands of Antonio Pipkin who produced a pair of short scoring runs while Brett Lauther contributed five field goals.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Last week’s loss to the Riders not only denied the Blue Bombers their chance to extend their lead atop the CFL West standings, but also extended their recent disappointing performance at the sportsbook, where they have now covered just twice in seven outings, including a 1-3 ATS run while favoured by more than seven points. Greater production from quarterback Zach Collaros certainly would help reverse that trend. Collaros connected on a pair of scoring passes last week, but connected on just 50% of pass attempts while also throwing one pick. Shortcomings in the Winnipeg passing game have been made up for by the continued strong performance of rusher Brady Oliveira, who has run for three scores and 207 total yards over the past two games.
