The Riders are coming off back-to-back decisive home wins over Montreal and Ottawa to improve their straight up record to 4-1-0 on the season. But despite their steady start, the Roughriders enter Week 6 lagging in third place in the West. The Argonauts have been idle since dropping a 23-22 decision to the Redblacks in Week 4, and now ride a two-game losing streak into Saturday’s contest.

The Roughriders have dipped to 2.5-point favourites after opening at -3, but maintain the support of 72% of sports bettors. The Argonauts have emerged as a +116 bet to earn just their second victory of the season. After opening at 45.5, the total dipped briefly to 44.5. But with the OVER attracting 84% of the betting action, the total has since rebounded to its current position at 46.

Roughriders vs. Argos Odds and Betting

Touchdown Atlantic, the Canadian Football League’s trip to the East Coast, returns Saturday as the Toronto Argonauts face the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.

The Riders have dominated the Argonauts in recent years, claiming victory in eight of nine head-to-head tilts since 2016, powered by a 4-1-0 run in Toronto. Saskatchewan has regularly rewarded loyal sports bettors over that stretch, going 7-2-0 against the spread. Indeed, the past three meetings between these teams have been one-sided affairs, with the Roughriders claiming victory by an average margin of 18 points. With the Rider offence generating over 33 points per game, the OVER has paid out in three of four clashes with the Argos, and has gone 5-2-1 over their past eight trips to Toronto.

Saskatchewan Roughriders

The Roughriders stingy defence stood tall once again in last week’s victory over the visiting Ottawa RedBlacks. The Riders limited the Ottawa offence to just 87 yards and a pair of field goals before recess, and have surrendered just 15.5 points per game in their four wins to date. Cody Fajardo turned in another steady performance under centre, connecting on a pair of scoring tosses while racking up 231 passing yards and a season-high 10.5 yards per completion. Currently ranked third overall, Fajardo maintains high-value +450 odds to finish the campaign as the league’s passing leader. However, last week’s win was marred by lineman Garrett Marino’s dangerous low hit on Jeremiah Masoli that left the Ottawa pivot with a serious knee injury that will sideline him indefinitely, and earned Marino a four-game suspension.

Toronto Argonauts

The Argonauts hope to bounce back after falling just short in their 23-22 loss to Ottawa in Week 4, with a missed extra points in the dying seconds proving to be the difference. Toronto has now seen two of its three games to date settled by a single point, with the team managing to eke out a slender 20-19 win over Montreal in their Week 2 season opener. Overall, the Argos have now lost four of five contests during a run that dates back to November of last year, and have also come up short in three of four on home turf. The team has struggled to generate offence in the early going of the season, averaging a dismal 15 points per game, and have yet to tally a scoring run through their first three outings. However, veteran rusher Andrew Harris is coming a season-high 111-yard performance versus Winnipeg. And despite the disappointing result, the Argos defence effectively contained the Bombers after surrendering 14 first-quarter points.
