Roughriders vs. Alouettes Prediction: CFL Week 9 Point Spread, Odds
The Riders travel to La Belle Province with a league-leading 6-1-0 record after topping the visiting Edmonton Elks last week by a 21-18 score and have averaged an impressive 33 points per game while winning five straight road games since September of last year. The Alouettes return home on a two-game win streak after tallying a 23-21 win in Calgary last week that leaves them deadlocked with Hamilton atop the CFL East standings.
The Roughriders arrive in Montreal perched as narrow 2.5-point road favourites on the CFL Week 9 odds. The Alouettes trail as +125 CFL moneyline underdogs and the total is pegged at 49.5.
CFL Odds and Betting
Sunday night’s matchup marks the first meeting of the season between these division leaders. The Alouettes have dominated in recent head-to-head action, taking four of five from the Roughriders including three straight victories on home turf.
Indeed, the Als have slammed the door on Saskatchewan in their recent home victories, limiting the Riders to just 13.7 points per game, and have not given up more than 19 points in five straight head-to-head clashes in Montreal.
However, with four of the past five meetings between these squads being one-sided affairs, CFL totals bettors taking the OVER have enjoyed payouts on four occasions over that stretch.

Saskatchewan Roughriders
The Roughriders needed to hold off a furious fourth-quarter rally by the Elks to seal their 21-18 win in Week 8. Indeed, the Riders struggles at times to keep pace with the Elks, who piled up 371 total yards while Saskatchewan mustered just 334 total yards and a meagre 22 total yards in the final frame.
However, quarterback Trevor Harris once again did just enough to get this team over the hump, connecting on 25 of 33 attempts for 268 passing yards and two touchdowns. Receiver Samuel Emilus enjoyed a big day with a game-high 113 receiving yards and one score, but after missing practice for most of the week due to a knee injury suffered in last week’s win, Emilus’ status is uncertain for Sunday.
Montreal Alouettes
The Alouettes will once again be without starting quarterback Davis Alexander, who remains sidelined by a hamstring that landed him on the six-game injured list in the wake of the team’s heart-stopping 26-25 win over Toronto two weeks ago.
Accordingly, McLeod Bethel-Thompson is expected to lead the Alouettes offence after a steady performance in last week’s 23-21 win over the Stampeders that produced 280 passing yards and one score. However, Bethel-Thompson may have to make do with a battered receiving corps after seeing Austin Mack and Tyson Philpot both miss time at practice this week due to injury.
In addition to putting more pressure on their veteran pivot, those injuries shine the spotlight on the urgent need for more production out of the Alouettes, which generated just 58 total rushing yards last week and ranks sixth in the CFL with just 95 rushing yards per game so far this season.
