The Tiger-Cats earned the win in their lone previous meeting with the RedBlacks, a 34-16 rout in Ottawa three weeks ago that extends their current head-to-head win streak to four games. Overall, Hamilton has taken eight of 10 from the RedBlacks and have been particularly dominant in their past three victories, which have come by an average margin of 17.7 points. Overall, the Ti-Cats have covered in seven of their past 10 dates with Ottawa but are just 1-2 ATS over that stretch when favoured by 3+ points.
The RedBlacks have given up some huge point totals during their epic swoon, allowing 40+ points six times over their past 10 games. However, Ottawa’s offence has shown signs of life since Labour Day, scoring 30+ points three times in the team’s past five outings, and have gone a respectable 3-3 ATS in their past six and 3-1 ATS in their past four when pegged as betting dogs by 8+ points.
Ottawa RedBlacks
Ottawa finally broke through last Friday, defeating Toronto 40-39 to end a 22-game losing streak. Quarterback Bryson Barnes enjoyed s successful debut as a CFL starter, completing 27 of 37 passes for 339 yards and two touchdowns, and adding 62 rushing yards. Ayden Eberhardt caught nine passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns, including the winning 24-yard reception with six seconds remaining. As a result, Barnes and Eberhardt were named two of the CFL’s three Week 20 Players of the Week, alongside Winnipeg receiver Ontaria Wilson. Of course, one game does not establish a franchise quarterback, but Barnes has given Ottawa a legitimate evaluation opportunity heading into 2027.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats
The Tiger-Cats season-long woes under centre continue with the loss of Harrison Frost, who has been officially listed as out for Sunday’s game with an elbow injury. Frost had brought some stability to the Ti-Cats offence, if not success, tossing for nine touchdowns and topping 300 passing yards twice before struggling in the team’s loss to the Elks two weeks ago. With Frost on the shelf, Tre Ford is the most likely candidate to guide the Tiger-Cats attack on Sunday afternoon. Ford turned in mixed results before turning over the starter’s duties to Frost, leading Hamilton to a 1-5 record in six starts while tossing for just five TDs against three picks. Hamilton’s other confirmed absences include receiver Keric Wheatfall (ankle), defensive back Jamal Peters (head), offensive lineman Brayden Szeman (ankle), receiver Tyson Middlemost (knee) and tight end Max Mang (quadriceps).
