The Lions will see the Redblacks for the second time in a row, after they beat Ottawa 24-12 back in Week 4, before having a bye last week. Except, in Week 6 it’ll be Dom Davis under centre for the Redblacks in place of a benched Matt Nichols.

Saturday is a pivotal game for the Lions too. At 2-2, losing at home to Ottawa could be crushing as BC attempts to keep pace in the West. A win gives the Lions momentum and a seat at the playoff picture table. Kickoff at BC Place starts at 10 p.m. EST.

CFL Odds and Betting

BC both won and covered against the Redblacks in Week 4, with the total going under. Both clubs have had three of their four contests in 2021 go under, yet for different reasons. In Ottawa, any sort of offence is lacking and it’s warranted a change under centre. The Lions have held opposing offences to 16.8 points a game (second in the CFL) and have allowed five opponent touchdowns, which is the best in the league.

When it comes to head-to-head, BC has won eight of their last 10 at home against the Redblacks and have covered in seven of their last 10 overall against Ottawa. The Redblacks have also covered in just one of their last seven games on the road.

Saturday’s spread has BC pegged as an 8-point favourite to win on the CFL odds, with the over-under at 44.5.

Ottawa RedBlacks

In relief of Nichols, Davis had pretty good numbers last week versus Montreal as he tossed for 291 yards and two scores in a 51-29 loss. But as per usual with Davis, two interceptions crept in — one being a pick-six to Patrick Levels. It’s going to be Davis from the start on Sunday, which means Ottawa’s offence will likely look more dangerous. It’s just whether that means a season-high in points kind of dangerous, or a six the other way and turnover-fest dangerous.

It can’t get worse than 16.8 points and 240.5 yards per game… I think.

BC Lions

Playing a team, getting a bye, and then playing that same team should serve as a massive advantage for the Lions. Not only does it give them time to rest and reload, but Michael Reilly and BC’s coaching staff have had two weeks to review the tape and scheme again.

Albeit not much should change in the Leos’ game plan after putting up 400 yards of offence with zero turnovers in Week 4. BC’s currently got two of the league’s highest producers too, as Lucky Whitehead is fourth with 339 receiving yards and Bryan Burnham is sixth with 329 in four games.
