RedBlacks vs. Elks Prediction: CFL Week 6 Point Spread, Odds
We are nearly to the third-way point of the 2026 CFL regular season as Week 6 kicks off with a standalone game Thursday night with massively struggling Ottawa visiting Edmonton in already the season series finale. The Elks are -6.5 on the CFL odds with a total of 57.5 points.
CFL Odds and Betting
We already know entering Week 6 that no CFL team will run the regular-season table with Edmonton losing last week, but the possibility remains of a winless season for Ottawa. Football fans got a pretty good idea what was coming this season for both clubs in Week 1.
The Elks were +1.5 in Ottawa but won 29-21, their third straight win in the series after dropping the previous two. Edmonton star tailback Justin Rankin dominated with 192 yards from scrimmage: 102 rushing yards and 94 receiving on five catches. The Elks won the turnover battle 4-0, including three of those in the first half (on three consecutive Ottawa possessions), to take a lead they into intermission they would not relinquish.
Cody Fajardo finished 23-34 with 266 passing yards and a touchdown – it wasn’t a great passing night with rainy conditions. Fajardo improved to 10-1 career against Ottawa. It was Jake Maier’s Redblacks debut, and he threw for 203 yards and a TD.
Edmonton is 4-2 ATS in the past six meetings overall. The under is 13-4 in the past 17.
Ottawa RedBlacks
I previewed Ottawa’s Week 5 game at home to Saskatchewan and while the Redblacks did barely cover the +5.5 spread, they fell to 0-4 with a 27-22 loss (I projected 31-27), but it was certainly their best effort of the season coming against the defending Grey Cup champions. That’s 10 straight defeats dating to last season.
Things looked great early on as Ottawa forced turnover and a punt on the Riders’ first two drives and led 10-0, but it mostly went downhill from there. Jake Maier threw for 259 yards and a score.
Special teams were a problem as the Redblacks allowed a punt return TD to Mathew Sexton and turned the ball over on one of their own punt returns.
“We’re in quicksand,” said head coach Ryan Dinwiddie. “We’ve got potential. You can see we’ve been in every game, but we’re not playing good enough to win.”
The franchise record for consecutive losses is 11, which happened in 2019. One bright spot thus far has been kicker Brett Lauther, who is now 13-of-13 on field-goal tries. Ottawa is 5-11 ATS in its past 16 road games.
Edmonton Elks
The Elks fell from the ranks of the unbeatens in Week 5 with a 36-24 loss “at” BC in the second edition of the CFL’s Touchdown Kelowna game as the Lions earned their first win of 2026. Edmonton only led briefly in the second quarter.
QB Cody Fajardo had a big game, completing 31 of 54 passes for 395 yards with three touchdown passes, two to Kaion Julien-Grant and one to Austin Mack. Star running back Justin Rankin, the league’s leading rusher, was bottled up on the ground with 19 yards but set CFL career highs with 10 catches and 100 receiving yards.
“Our brand of football is running the football, and they had a good plan for us and they stopped us,” Fajardo said after. “When you stop us in the run, it just makes it difficult because it takes us out of our game plan a little bit.”
Edmonton had four turnovers, three of them Fajardo picks. And it could not stop BC on the ground as the Lions rushed for 162 yards on 21 carries. Edmonton is 6-1 ATS in its past seven at home. Best to get this spread now before it potentially rises to 7 and a potential push.
