RedBlacks vs. Alouettes Prediction: CFL Week 19 Point Spread, Odds

The Montreal Alouettes can pull within two points of first-place Hamilton in the CFL East standings and keep their slim hopes of finishing atop the division alive when they host the Ottawa RedBlacks on Monday afternoon in CFL Week 19 betting action at Percival Molson Stadium.

The Alouettes enjoyed a well-earned bye last week after extending their current win streak to three games with a 38-20 rout of Calgary in Week 17. With the Tiger-Cats suffering a 37-20 loss to the Stampeders on Saturday, the Alouettes now trail Hamilton by just four points entering Thanksgiving Monday action, with two games in hand.

The RedBlacks limp into Montreal on a three -game skid following last week’s 20-13 loss to Saskatchewan. Long eliminated from playoff contention, Ottawa has lost five of six overall, and five of six on the road to claim sole possession of last place in the CFL league standings with just eight points.

With lots on the line, the Alouettes look to Monday’s matchup perched as lofty 14-point favourites on the CFL Week 19 odds. The RedBlacks lag as distant +600 underdogs on the CFL moneyline and the total for Monday’s contest is pegged at 51.5.

CFL Odds and Betting

The Alouettes wrap up the CFL Week 19 schedule still clinging to hopes of a first-place finish in the CFL East. But with losses in their two dates with Hamilton this season, the Tiger-Cats hold all the tiebreakers. That means the Als must run the table in their final three contests and hope the Ti-Cats fall to defeat in their regular season finale versus Ottawa in Week 21.

Despite enduring key injuries, the Montreal offence has found its groove during the team’s 3-0-0 run, averaging 35.7 points per game. The team also saw a weight lifted with their recent victory over the Stampeders, which put the brakes on a four-game slide on home turf. The Als have also dominated Ottawa during a nine-game head-to-head win streak.

Montreal has covered the spread in each of their past seven dates while limiting the RedBlacks to just 11.6 points per game, and claimed victory by double-digit margins on five occasions over that stretch. However, the Alouettes have been a massive betting disappointment when pegged as double-digit chalk, going winless against the spread in their past six while losing outright on four occasions.

Ottawa RedBlacks

Points have come at a premium for the RedBlacks over the past two games, particularly in first-half action, with the squad scoring just 11 total points before halftime in those contests. However, Ottawa has found ways to score on the road, averaging 30.6 points per game over their past five away from home field at Lansdowne Park.

Receiver Eugene Lewis has been among the few bright spots during the RedBlacks’ current slide, compiling 211 receiving yards over the past two games. But with quarterback Dru Brown shut down for the season due to injury, maintaining that momentum will be a huge challenge.

Montreal Alouettes

The Alouettes received a huge lift from the return of Davis Alexander from injury two weeks ago. The four-year CFL veteran celebrated his return by tossing for 350 yards and one score, and establishing a new CFL record by claiming a ninth straight win in as many games as a starting pivot.

Alexander wasted no time reigniting his chemistry with receiver Tyler Snead, who made eight catches for 115 yards. Snead has now topped 100 receiving yards four times this season and averaged 73.4 yards per game with Alexander under centre.

However, the Als ground game has not followed suit. Montreal rushers have compiled just 66.3 rushing yards over the past three games and rank second last in the CFL with just 89.3 yards per game.
