Lions vs. Stampeders Prediction: CFL Week 15 Point Spread, Odds

The Stamps are rolling with three wins in their last four games, including last week’s 56-28 blowout victory in Edmonton.  The Lions, on the other hand, have lost both games since Canadian quarterback Nathan Rourke was injured and they enter Week 15 fresh off a 31-10 defeat in Montreal last Friday.

Calgary is a 4.5-point favourite to win on the CFL odds, with a total of 53.5.

CFL Odds and Betting

This will be the second of three meetings between the teams in 2022, with the regular season series ending next week in B.C.  They’re about a month removed from a Week 10 battle in Calgary.  The Lions won that game 41-40, although neither quarterback from that meeting will play on Saturday.  Rourke finished with 488 passing yards and accounted for four touchdowns, but his season is likely done because of a foot injury. Bo Levi Mitchell put up 206 passing yards and two touchdowns for Calgary, but he’s been overtaken by Jake Maier on the depth chart.

The Lions were perfect on the road until last week’s loss in Montreal and they now sit 4-1 straight up outside BC Place.  They are, however, 5-0 against the spread in their last five games in Calgary.  The total has gone Over in four of B.C.’s last six games against the Stampeders.

It’s been an up-and-down season at home for Calgary as they sit 3-2 SU at McMahon Stadium.  They’re an even 6-6 ATS overall in 2022, but they’ve failed to cover in any of their five home games.  This could be another high scoring game as the total has gone Over in four of five home games for the Stamps this year.

BC Lions

Last week’s loss in Montreal confirmed the Lions are seriously in trouble without Rourke under centre.  Antonio Pipkin started at quarterback for B.C., completing 13-of-24 pass attempts for 174 yards and an interception.  Pipkin also ran in the Lions’ only touchdown.  Former Alouette Vernon Adams Jr. served in a depth role as Pipkin’s backup and completed one of three pass attempts for just 17 yards.

Adams, who was acquired last month because of the Rourke injury, has been announced as the starter in Calgary.  The 29-year-old appeared in five games with Montreal this season, completing 21-of-39 pass attempts for 294 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.  Concerning Rourke’s injury, it seems very unlikely the breakout star will play again this season.  The 24-year-old threw for 3,281 yards and 25 touchdowns (both of which are currently still second-best in the CFL) in nine games before undergoing surgery for a foot injury suffered in Week 11.

Calgary Stampeders

Calgary defiantly clinched a season series sweep of provincial rival Edmonton with last week’s blowout win.  Maier completed 20-of-26 pass attempts for 287 yards and a touchdown.  Reggie Begelton racked up 112 receiving yards, while Malik henry had 98 receiving yards and a touchdown.  Ka’Deem Carey added 98 rushing yards and a score.  Backup quarterback Tommy Stevens took over in short yardage situations, punching in four touchdowns on the ground.  The Stamps have now scored more points in Commonwealth Stadium (105) in two games this season than the Elks have in six (101).
