It’s a West Division battle Saturday night in CFL Week 10 action as the Calgary Stampeders play host to the B.C. Lions.  Calgary sits third in the West with a 5-2 record following a 17-3 win in Ottawa last week.  The Lions are second in the division with a 6-1 record, including a 46-14 blowout win against Edmonton last time out.

B.C. is a 2-point favourite to win on the CFL odds, with a total of 53.5.

CFL Odds and Betting

The Stampeders took two of three meetings between the teams last season, while the road team has come out on top in four straight head-to-heads.

The Lions have historically struggled in Calgary, dropping eight of their last 10 games at McMahon Stadium.  They’re 5-2 against the spread this season and 4-1 ATS in their last five games in Calgary.  The total has gone Over in 10 of B.C.’s last 13 games dating back to last season.

Calgary has to be feeling good heading into this game as they’ve won 11 of their last 13 games against the Lions.  They’re 3-4 ATS this season, including 0-3 ATS at home.  The Stamps have hit the Over in all three home games.

BC Lions

Canadian quarterback Nathan Rourke is taking the CFL by storm and had the best game of his short career last week against Edmonton.  Rourke completed 34 of 37 pass attempts for 477 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions, breaking his own record for most passing yards in a game by a Canadian QB.  He also added a running score on the ground.  Among quarterbacks with at least four games played, Rourke leads the CFL in passing yards (2,418), touchdowns (21) and completion percentage (81.3 per cent).

The Lions spread the ball around their receiving core last week, with four players recording over 80 yards each.  Lucky Whitehead led the team with 148 yards and a touchdown, while Dominique Rhymes added 91 yards and three touchdowns.  Bryan Burnham returned to the lineup for the first time since June 25, recording 82 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Calgary Stampeders

The banged up Calgary Stampeders did what they needed to do to squeak out a win last week and snap a two-game losing streak to keep pace with B.C. in the standings.  Calgary was missing multiple starters due to injury, as well as head coach Dave Dickenson because of COVID protocols.  Quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell didn’t have a great game, completing just 13 of 27 pass attempts for 137 yards, no touchdowns and one interception.  Mitchell also fell one yard short of becoming Calgary’s all-time passing leader.

Dedrick Mills led the receivers with 100 yards on 16 catches last week.  Reggie Begelton led the running backs with 50 yards on five carries.  The biggest injury loss for the Stamps right now is defensive back Tre Roberson, who is done for the season after undergoing knee surgery.  In five games this season, Roberson recorded 17 defensive tackles, one interception and one forced fumble.
