Lions vs. Roughriders Prediction: CFL Week 20 Point Spread, Odds
With all due respect to the Tiger-Cats and RedBlacks game, this is the game of the week. Sports Interaction CFL oddsmakers have made the Roughriders 4-point favourites in this contest.
Betting Analysis
The Lions have dismal 2-6 record on the road this season, but the good news for their fan base; in their last three road games, they have won two. The Roughriders are 5-3 (straight up) at home this season, and an impressive 6-3 (straight up within the division). Surprisingly, their play during Saturday games has not been good as of late, as they are 9-21 against the spread on this day of the week. Head-to-head the Lions are 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine game against the Roughriders.
BC Lions
The Lions have picked a great time to ramp up their season. Rewind just eight weeks ago, the team was struggling at 3-6 and there was a major doubt that a post-season berth wasn’t in the cards. Fast-forward to this week’s game with the Roughriders and the team is 9-7, winners of three straight games, and more importantly six of their last seven games have been wins as well. This team is piping hot.
Last week in a shootout win against the Eskimos (42-32) newcomer Tyrell Sutton (via Montreal Alouettes) had his second straight monster game along the ground rushing the ball for 95 yards on 15 carries. In his two starts with the Leos he has 201 yards rushing in two games. Receiver DeVier Posey caught five passes for 113 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Quarterback Travis Lulay tossed four majors in the win.
This team has two games left on the schedule (next week versus Stampeders) and has already clinched a playoff spot. They can finish has high as second place in the West division, and as low as the cross-over position to play out of the East. Overall, a remarkable turnaround in Head Coach Wally Buono’s final CFL season.
Saskatchewan Roughriders
The Roughriders got the bounce back game they needed last weekend against the Stampeders. Coming off their most embarrassing loss of the season the previous week in Winnipeg (31-0), the Green Riders broke an offensive touchdown drought that last 152 minutes and 49 seconds with a major in the first quarter against the Stampeders. Quarterback Zach Collaros had his best game as a Roughrider throwing for 352 yards, leading the 30 first down against a defence that has allowed the fewest points in the CFL.
Receiver Jordan Williams-Lambert was the favourite target of the game, as the rookie hauled in five passes for 113 yards. He was a welcomed addition to the line-up after he missed the previous game due to injury. Also, in his first CFL start, K.D. Cannon showed why he was a start at Baylor. The former Bear made four catches for 61 yards and showed he has speed to burn.
