Lions vs. Roughriders Prediction: CFL Week 11 Point Spread, Odds

The B.C. Lions are 7-2 on the season and are tied for the top spot in the West Division. They’re fresh off a convincing 37-9 win over the Calgary Stampeders and now find themselves as a big road favourite on the CFL odds versus the Saskatchewan Roughriders this week. The Roughriders are 4-5 and are hurting after a 41-12 loss to the Montreal Alouettes. All signs point to a Lions win here but can Saskatchewan cover?

CFL Odds and Betting

The Lions have covered five straight when going up against teams with a losing record and are also 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven games against teams from the West. Taking a look at their recent totals, the under has cashed out in 12 of their last 14 matchups when they were coming off a win.

The Roughriders, on the other hand, are 0-7-1 ATS in their last eight games when going up against teams with a winning record. They are also just 1-5 ATS in their last six games played at home. Of note, the over has cashed in five of their last six games played at home.

BC Lions

The Lions were able to take control completely against the Calgary Stampeders last week, routing them by a 37-9 scoreline. Quarterback Vernon Adams was nearly flawless throughout the night, throwing for 322 yards and four touchdowns compared with just one interception. The Lions ground game didn’t do much – their best rusher had just nine yards – but it wasn’t needed as they did all of their damage through the air. That’s consistent with how they’ve produced all season though, as this team now has 16 passing touchdowns compared to only four rushing touchdowns.

The Lions should feel pretty good about this matchup. The last two times the Roughriders faced a quality team – Toronto in Week 8 and Montreal last week – they’ve been outscored 72-25. The Lions beat Saskatchewan 19-9 in Week 7 and know the recipe needed to find their way to another comfortable win.

Saskatchewan Roughriders

The Roughriders got clubbed 41-12 by the Montreal Alouettes last week. Their offence continues to stall against quality opponents and that was the case once again. Quarterback Jacob Dolegala completed 11 of 20 pass attempts for just 107 yards and an interception. That’s not going to be good enough this week – or most weeks – when the Roughriders face another elite team. It’s become clear that this isn’t exactly a high-flying offence; the squad ranks eighth in the league in scoring average with 19.6 points a game. On the other side of the ball, this is a defence that gives up 27 points per game.

The Roughriders might be 4-5 but that record looks a touch overrated when you factor who they’ve beaten. Their four wins have come against four opponents that are a combined 9-27. This looks like it’ll be a tough spot to trust the Roughriders.
