Lions vs. Roughriders Prediction: CFL Week 6 Point Spread, Odds

While both sides enter this weekend’s showdown in Regina having stumbled through the opening stretch of the season, the Roughriders have to be feeling much better about their chances of securing win No. 2 as they play host in the first game of a home-and-home set with the reeling Lions.

CFL Odds and Betting

The spread for this one has taken off after opening at Saskatchewan -2 – and the Roughriders still look like a strong play despite the dramatic line move. The hosts are a red-hot 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games against West Division opponents, and have covered four of their past five following a bye week. The Lions, on the other hand, are an abysmal 1-7 against the spread in their last eight games and have just two covers in their past nine on the road.

With both teams having struggled to produce much offence so far, it’s no surprise that this game’s total of 50.5 is the lowest of any matchup on the Week 6 docket. And both the Lions and Roughriders come in as strong under options, with B.C. having gone 7-3-1 to the under in its past 11 games following a loss and Saskatchewan 4-1-1 to the under in its past six overall. The teams also have nine unders and a push in their previous 12 encounters in Regina.

BC Lions

The Lions can point to a few reasons for their struggles with the football, but an underachieving offensive line has to be at or near the top of the list. B.C. has surrendered a league-high 17 sacks, leaving quarterback Mike Reilly constantly forced to scramble. The defence has also showed plenty of cracks in the early going, allowing a CFL-worst 12 touchdown passes while generating just five turnovers through their first five games of 2019.

Saskatchewan Roughriders

The Roughriders could certainly use a shot in the arm after getting shellacked 37-10 by the Calgary Stampeders last time out. But that shot won’t come at quarterback – at least, not yet. The Roughriders say they’re in no rush to activate Chad Collaros from the six-game injured list, where he’ll remain until at least early August as he recovers from a concussion. His backup, Cody Fajardo, has completed 71.1 percent of his passes for 945 yards with four TDs.
