It’s a rematch and second game of a home and home series between these two teams. Last weekend on the West Coast the Lions scored an easy 29-5 win. This week in the Nation’s Capital, they open as slight road favourites at Sports Interaction.

CFL Odds and Betting

The Leos are 5-1 against the spread in their last six September games, and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games versus Ottawa.

Meanwhile, the Redblacks are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games overall, and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games following a straight up loss.

The over is 3-2-1 in the last five games played in this series over the last three years, but when the match-up is played in Ottawa, these two teams are 3-1-1 in the last five games.

BC Lions

The Lions snapped their seven game losing streak last weekend against the Redblacks in Vancouver. They will now look for their first two-game winning streak of the season. It was the first win for the Leos since July 6 in Toronto, and first win at BC Place in 330 days for the Leos.

Quarterback Mike Reilly was 20-of-29 for 286 yards in the win, but maybe more importantly it was the first time this season that the starting pivot wasn’t sacked in a game. The Lions lead the league in most sacks against, and completely shut down the Redblacks this past weekend.

Running back Brandon Rutley had his best game of his CFL career carrying the ball 20 times for 111 yards. Receiver Bryan Burnham caught nine passes for 95 yards. He is now just 57 yards away from hitting the 1000-yard mark for the fourth consecutive year.

The Lions defence forced three turnovers in this game and had their best games of the season allowing only five points against.

Ottawa RedBlacks

The news keeps on getting worse for the Ottawa Redblacks this 2019 season. The Redblacks are now in the middle of a five game losing streak and have the worst home field in the CFL (1-5).

Last Friday in Vancouver was the third time this season that the Redblacks offence scored seven or less points in a game. The team is dead last in many offensive categories including points for with 215 for an average of 17.9 per game. They are also last in point differential at minus-146.

The lone bright spot last week for the Redblacks was the play of Dominique Rhymes who caught five balls for 113 yards.

The offense might get a boast, as Receiver Brad Sinopoli is due to come off the one-game IR. Sinopoli is having a bad year based on his high standards with only 47 receptions for 461 yards. Last season he finished the year with 116 receptions for 1378 yards.
