Lions vs. Argonauts Prediction: CFL Week 10 Point Spread, Odds
Toronto, coming off a bye week, is a short Sports Interaction underdog.
Betting Analysis
The Lions-Argos game has easily the shortest spread on the Week 10 schedule. Early betting at Sports Interaction is heavily on BC giving the 3 points with a smaller lean on over the 50.5-point total. The under is actually a slight favourite there. On the moneyline, BC is -135 and Toronto +115.
In the race to 10 points, the Lions are -135 and Argos +100. First team to score, BC is -132 with a touchdown at +310. Toronto is -111 to take the first lead with a touchdown at +333. On the winning margin prop, the Lions by 1-6 points is +350 followed by 7-12 points at +400. The Argos by 1-6 points is +375.
It’s the first meeting of the season between the teams with Toronto heading to BC Place in Week 17. The Lions have covered their past four in Toronto and the total has gone under a whopping 14 of the past 17 meetings there. Last year, Toronto lost at home 28-15 very early on but then routed the Lions in the rematch on the road in the regular-season finale.
BC Lions
The Lions were 3-point home underdogs last week but surprised Edmonton 31-23 to end a two-game losing streak. BC outscored the Eskimos 22-3 in the second half. Chris Rainey was named one of the CFL’s Top Performers of the Week with 135 punt return yards, including a 79-yard touchdown, 50 kickoff return yards and 36 receiving yards. Travis Lulay completed 16 of 29 passes for 239 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Travon Van rushed for a score and Kevin Elliott caught one.
However, the defence’s second-half effort against Mike Reilly & Co. was the big story. Garry Peters sealed the win with an interception in his own end zone. BC has now covered its past four games but is 0-4 ATS in its previous four against teams with a losing record.
Toronto Argonauts
Sometime a bye week can come at an inopportune time. That might have been the case for Toronto last week off its impressive 42-41 upset of visiting Ottawa in Week 8. Marc Trestman’s decision to give QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson his first-ever CFL start looks brilliant in hindsight as he led the Argos back from a 24-point third-quarter deficit. Bethel-Thompson threw for 302 yards and four touchdowns, the last a 23-yarder to Armanti Edwards with one second to go. SJ Green was MBT’s favourite target, though, with nine catches for 134 yards and two scores.
The Argos have covered their past four following a win and after a bye week.
