Eskimos vs. Blue Bombers Prediction: CFL Week 3 Point Spread, Odds

This game will be the feature match-up of the CFL’s week three schedule. Two undefeated teams that possess two of the best running backs in the league head to head. The Bombers and Eskimos are a combined 3-0 in three games this season, and could be seeing a lot of each other throughout this 2019 season.

CFL Odds and Betting

Last season the Bombers took two of three from the Eskimos, including a 1-1 record on home field.

The Bombers have played well out of a bye situation, with a 3-0-1 record in the last four games. They are also 5-1 against the spread in the last six Thursday night games.

The Eskimos are 9-3 ATS in the last 12 games playing against teams with a winning record, and 11-5 ATS in the last 16 games against West division opponents.

Head-to-head the under is a perfect 4-0 in the last four games played in Winnipeg between these two teams, and 5-2 in the last seven games played overall.

Edmonton Eskimos

The Eskimos are receiving early returns on one of the busiest off seasons in franchise history. Through two games the team is 2-0 and the offence is clicking on full cylinders. Quarterback Trevor Harris has been the best CFL pivot through two weeks, throwing for 741 yards (57-for-74), six touchdowns, and a QB-rating of 135. The team has scored 71 points in the first two games under Harris’ guide.

Former teammate in Ottawa, now Edmonton, Greg Ellington has nine catches for 174 yards, while running back CJ Gable leads the league in rushing with 265 yards on 43 carries.  Harris, Ellington, and Gable are all ranked number one (statistically) in their positions.

On defence, the team is coming off a strong performance, with seven team sacks and an interception against the Lions. One trouble spot might be team discipline, as the team took 17 penalties for a whopping 170 yards against.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers

This will be the Blue Bombers home opener and their second game of the 2019 season, coming off a bye week in week two, and a win on the west coast in week one.

Running back Andrew Harris, once again, will be the feature in the Bombers offensive. In week one, he carried the ball 16 times for 148 yards

Safety Jeff Hecht is coming off one of best CFL games of his career with two interceptions in week one.

The team received some good news on the weekend as wide receiver Chris Matthews returned to practice Sunday for the first time in nearly a month. Matthews missed the Blue Bombers’ season opener in Week 1, took limited reps with the first and second team Sunday. He was the key free agent signing this past off-season.
