Elks vs. RedBlacks Prediction: CFL Week 12 Point Spread, Odds
The standalone Friday night game in Week 12 around the CFL features the league’s two three-win teams as West Division last-place Edmonton visits East No. 3 Ottawa with the Elks as 2.5-point favourites on the CFL odds and a total of 53.5.
CFL Odds and Betting
We have reached the midpoint of the 2025 CFL season with Edmonton and Ottawa both sitting on three wins – the lone two clubs at that number. The Elks are last in the West Division, five games behind first-place Saskatchewan. The RedBlacks sit third in the East, three back of first-place Hamilton. If Week 11 was any indication, the West is the far deeper division as it went 4-0, all playing at home.
Friday concludes the season series between these clubs. In Week 5, Edmonton was a 2.5-point home underdog (total 52.5) but snapped a two-game skid in the series with a 39-33 win. Three of the Elks’ four touchdowns came on plays of 45 yards or more: Running back Justin Rankin on a 74-yard rush and a 45-yard reception, and fellow tailback Javon Leake on a 94-yard punt return. Tre Ford completed 15 of 17 pass attempts for 212 yards with two touchdowns while posting a perfect 158.3 quarterback rating.
Edmonton never gave up the lead after scoring on its opening drive. For Ottawa, Kalil Pimpleton had a 64-yard punt return for a score. Dru Brown finished 31 of 43 with 316 yards and two touchdowns. The RedBlacks had 118 yards of penalties.
Ottawa is 8-3 ATS in the past 11 meetings, and the under is 11-4 in the past 15.
Edmonton Elks
The Elks were 3-point home favourites last Friday and won their second game in a row, 28-20 over Toronto. Tailback Justin Rankin had 13 carries for 92 yards on the ground (after zero yards rushing in Week 10) and a touchdown while adding five catches for 87 yards. He leads all CFL running backs in receiving yards. Rankin’s 179-yard total was a season high and the third time he passed 100 in a game this year.
Cody Fajardo was 25-for-31 for 273, a TD and pick. The offensive line didn’t allow a sack. Over the past four weeks as a starter, Fajardo has completed 77.2 per cent of his passes for 1,165 yards and six touchdowns.
Edmonton’s defence entered allowing touchdowns on 22.9 per cent of drives but Toronto had just one TD on five red-zone trips. The Elks were without punter Cody Grace as he was placed on the six-game injured list last week. Canadian kicker Vincent Blanchard pulled double duty for the first time in his career and handled both well. The Elks are 5-1 ATS in their past six games.
Ottawa RedBlacks
Ottawa was a 4-point dog last Thursday in Winnipeg and had a two-game winning streak snapped in a 30-27 loss. Kalil Pimpleton tied the game for the RedBlacks by returning a 117-yard missed field goal for a touchdown with less than a minute left, but Sergio Castillo hit a walk-off 47-yard field goal to win it for the Blue Bombers.
To make matters worse, Ottawa QB Dru Brown left midway through the third quarter due to injury and not expected in Week 12. The 28-year-old has not been able to stay on the field in 2025. He missed three games earlier this season with a hip injury and also left Week 7 vs. Hamilton with concussion-like symptoms.
Dustin Crum threw for a score and rushed for one in Brown’s absence and would start this week. He has completed 62.4 per cent of his passes for 625 yards and two touchdowns this season, while adding another 199 yards and six touchdowns rushing. Wideout Keelan White (24 catches, 270 yards, one TD) is in question with an ankle problem. He was a game-time call in Week 11 but played. Ottawa is 2-4 ATS in its past six at home.
