There’s still something for the Blue Bombers to play for in Week 20 as a win in either of their final two regular season games and a loss by B.C. on Friday would clinch the West Division for Winnipeg. It’s a different story for the Edmonton Elks, who are closing out their season and sit tied with Ottawa for dead last in the CFL standings.

As expected, the Bombers opened as heavy 11.5-point favourites to win on the CFL odds, with the total sitting at 50.5.

CFL Odds and Betting

This has been one of the most dominant rivalries in the CFL in recent years as Winnipeg has won nine straight games against the Elks. Saturday’s tilt marks the third and final meeting of the season between the teams. The Blue Bombers won 28-14 at home in Week 7 and 38-29 in Edmonton in Week 9. Bombers running back Brady Oliveira has been particularly lethal, rushing for 220 combined yards across the two games this year.

No matter how you bet the Elks, they have been abysmal this season. They are 6-10-1 against the spread overall, although they are an even 4-4 ATS on the road. High scoring games have been a trend for Edmonton lately, as they have hit the Over in five of their last seven contests.

Winnipeg has been a powerhouse all season, going 7-1 straight up at home. They are 9-7 ATS overall, including 6-2 ATS at IG Field. Count on a high scoring game, as the Bombers have hit the Over in six straight tilts.

Edmonton Elks

Luckily for the Elks, their miserable season will come to a close on Saturday thanks to a Week 21 bye. It was more of the same for Edmonton in last week’s 35-21 home loss against the Alouettes. The Elks blew a 21-3 lead, allowing Montreal to score 32 unanswered points. One positive is quarterback Tre Ford’s solid performance. The Niagara Falls native threw for 216 yards, two TDs and no interceptions while adding another 47 yards on the ground. It was the first game this season that Ford hasn’t thrown an interception.

It shouldn’t shock anyone that the Elks rank at or near the bottom of the CFL in most major statistical categories, including second-last in yards per game (344.1) and last in points per game (20.1). It’s not much better on the other side of the ball as Edmonton allows the second most yards per game (389.2) and they rank seventh in points allowed (389.2).

Winnipeg Blue Bombers

The Bombers proved they are still the team to beat in the West with their 34-26 overtime win in B.C. two weeks ago. Winnipeg trailed the majority of the game until a 37-yard field goal sent things to overtime. Oliveira punched in the overtime touchdown while receiver Kenny Lawler added a two-point conversion. Zach Collaros threw for 389 yards, two TDs and one interception. Collaros sits second in the CFL with 4,217 passing yards and he has a league-high 32 touchdown passes compared to 15 interceptions.

The main concern for Winnipeg right now is the health of receiver Dalton Schoen, last year’s Most Outstanding Rookie. Schoen was hurt two weeks ago in B.C., but it’s not clear what injury he is dealing with. The Kansas State product leads the CFL with 10 receiving touchdowns and his 1,222 receiving yards ranks third. Schoen did not participate in the Blue Bombers’ first practice following last week’s bye.
