Elks vs. Blue Bombers Prediction: CFL Week 18 Point Spread, Odds

It’s a West Divsion bookend game this Saturday night, as the first place Blue Bombers (13-2) host the last place Elks (4-11). The Bombers can clinch first place in the West Division with a win in this game and a B.C. Lions loss in Toronto Saturday afternoon.

These two teams met back in week 7 in Edmonton (July 22) with the Bombers walking away with a 24-10 victory. Quarterback Zach Collaros had his lowest passing yardage total of the season, throwing for just 188 yards (6-of-17) in the win.

The Bombers have won six straight games against the Elks dating back to June 27, 2019. The Elks are 1-4 against the spread in their last five meetings in Winnipeg and 1-5 ATS in their last six meetings against the Blue and Gold overall.

The Blue Bombers opened as 13-point favourites at Sports Interaction.

Edmonton Elks

The Elks are hanging on by a thread in the West Division, four points back of the fourth place Saskatchewan Roughriders with only three games left.

The team didn’t do themselves any favours last week, losing at home to the Alouettes 25-18. The Elks led 18-17 at halftime and didn’t score a point in the second half. The Als scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter when Linebacker Tyrice Beverette intercepted a Taylor Cornelius pass and returned it 105-yards for the touchdown.

One positive for the Elks (as of late) has been the play of Running back Kevin Brown. The Mount Pleasant, South Carolina product has raced for 275-yards in the last three games. That’s an average of 91.6 yards per game. If you see this player prop, you might want to consider the over.

Of note, Elks’ receiver Kenny Lawler will miss the contest. He has undergone season-ending surgery on his collarbone. The 28-year-old was injured last week versus Montreal.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers

The Blue Bombers went 3-1 in the month of September, coming off a win last week against the Roughriders.

Running back Brady Oliveria rushed for only his second 100-yard (101) game of the season. He is second overall in league rushing with 898 yards. He is 91 yards back of leader Ka’Deem Carey.

Dalton Schoen made history last game. The Blue Bombers’ receiver pulled in his 11th touchdown of the year on versus the Roughriders, setting a team record for most receiving touchdowns by a rookie in a single season.

Reigning CFL MOP Zach Collaros continues to make a great argument that he should repeat his MOP status. His 3,874 yards passing, and 32 touchdown (CFL leading) passes are career bests. Colloras has gone 12 straight games with at least one TD pass.
