Elks vs. Blue Bombers Prediction: CFL Week 4 Point Spread, Odds
The Blue Bombers are 9.5-point favourites on the CFL odds, the biggest spread of the week, with a total of 50.5 points.
CFL Odds and Betting
Winnipeg’s 2-0 start to this season is in contrast to 2024 when the Blue Bombers lost their first four before going 11-3 the rest of the way to win the West Division. Saskatchewan currently leads the West at 3-0 but Winnipeg enters Week 4 as the +350 second-favourite for the Grey Cup behind Montreal (+280). The Bombers haven’t started 3-0 since 2022.
Starting slow to a season is nothing new for the 0-2 Elks, either, who were 0-7 to start last year and 0-9 to open 2023. The last time that Edmonton won a game within its first three contests was 2021 when it opened 1-2.
The Blue Bombers have utterly dominated this series in recent years and swept again in 2024, winning 27-14 in Edmonton and 55-14 in Winnipeg. In the former, the Bombers forced six Elks turnovers. In the latter, QB Zach Collaros blew up with 432 yards and a career-high six touchdowns as his team clinched a playoff spot. Former Elks wide receiver Kenny Lawler had eight catches for 130 yards and two scores.
Winnipeg has won 12 straight in the series and is 9-3 ATS in those. The over is 4-2 in the past six.
Edmonton Elks
The Elks came off a bye in Week 3 and were 5.5-point underdogs to Montreal last Thursday and lost 38-28 in their home opener. Edmonton did show some life with a 22-point fourth quarter to make it a little interesting. Quarterback Tre Ford completed 27 of 36 passes for 308 yards, with touchdown tosses to Kaion Julien-Grant and Kurleigh Gittens Jr., and an interception. Ford also rushed for 31 yards and a TD but was sacked four times, including a strip sack.
Running back Justin Rankin ranked second in rushing first downs (five) and yards after contact (64) in Week 3 against one of the toughest defences in the CFL. Steven Dunbar Jr. led the Elks with 97 receiving yards from seven catches.
“We have fight on our football team,” said Elks head coach Mark Kilam. “We just got in a hole early, too many explosions on defence. That’s on the coaching staff, we’ve got to get that cleaned up. Our offence took a step tonight, which is a positive, but we’re still looking for that complete team effort.”
Edmonton allows a league-worst 436.5 yards per game. The Elks are 1-6 ATS in their past seven.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Hard what to know Winnipeg is yet as the Blue Bombers, while 2-0 SU and ATS, have only played BC. The Bombers won their home opener in Week 2 by 14 points and then were -5 at BC in Week 3 last Saturday and prevailed 27-14. After missing the opener due to suspension, QB Zach Collaros was back in Week 3 and threw for 179 yards and two scores but also two interceptions. That improved his career record as a starter at Winnipeg to 50-15 for the best winning percentage in franchise history. Collaros also became just the 14th player to throw for 200 touchdown passes in his career.
The Blue Bombers were down running backs Peyton Logan and Brady Oliveira, so rookie Quinton Cooley saw his first professional action and rushed seven times for 43 yards. Matthew Peterson was the primary and rushed 11 times for 43 yards and caught two short passes. It’s a very quick turnaround after playing Saturday so not yet clear if either Logan or Oliveira will return. Cornerback Terrell Bonds was terrific in Week 3, targeted 11 times and only allowing four of those passes to be completed for two first downs. Winnipeg’s defence forced four B.C. turnovers. The Blue Bombers are 8-3 ATS in their past 11.
