Elks vs. Alouettes Prediction: CFL Week 10 Point Spread, Odds
Division leaders clash on Saturday afternoon, as the Montreal Alouettes play host to the Edmonton Elks in CFL Week 10 betting action at Percival Molson Stadium.
The Alouettes padded their lead atop the CFL East standings with last week’s lopsided 34-13 win in Ottawa to extend their current win streak to five games, and remain undefeated at home this season.
The Elks fell just short in a 28-26 home loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders, splitting a home-and-home series with the defending champions, but maintain a slim two-point lead over the Riders in the CFL West.
The Alouettes have emerged as 3.5-point home favourites on the CFL Week 10 odds. The Elks lag as +170 underdogs on the CFL moneyline and the total is listed at 58.5.
CFL Odds and Betting
The Alouettes will be looking to atone for a 32-29 overtime loss in Edmonton back in Week 3 that marks their lone defeat so far this season. Overall, the Elks have taken two straight from the Als, claiming victory by a combined margin of just four points in those wins, which put the brakes on a five-game head-to-head losing streak.
Those hard-fought results are nothing new when these squads meet. Four of the past five dates between these squads have been settled by four of fewer points, with the UNDER going 3-2 in totals betting over that stretch.
Overall, Edmonton has claimed victory by five or fewer points on four occasion during their 6-1-0 straight up start. But with the Elks being favoured on the CFL odds just twice through their first seven outings, they sport a steady 7-1 ATS record so far this season. The Alouettes have covered in four straight contests, and are 4-1 ATS in their past five home dates.
Edmonton Elks
The Elks did themselves no favours last week, when they blew leads on three occasions and racked up 94 yards in penalties on their way to a 28-26 defeat. However, this rejuvenated squad’s ability to run up the score should not be underestimated. Edmonton has averaged almost 30 points per game while compiling a 3-1-0 road record and has limited the Alouettes to just 21.5 points per game over the squad’s past two visits to Montreal.
But the Elks will not enjoy the same advantage they held last week against a Riders squad decimated by injuries. Cody Fajardo failed to duplicate the heroics that lifted the Elks to a 36-34 win in Regina two weeks ago, when he connected for 510 yards and four TD passes. However, Fajardo was good enough, completing 22-of-28 passes for 286 yards and one score, and has seen nine of his 14 scoring passes come on the road.
Montreal Alouettes
With last week’s rout of the RedBlacks, the Alouettes have cemented themselves as the team to beat in the CFL and as Grey Cup favourites. Quarterback Davis Alexander lit it up with three touchdown passes and 420 yards. Alexander now leads all CFL pivots with 2,788 passing yards but has managed to find the end zone just once over his past two home appearances.
Tyson Philpot maintained his sizzling pace last week, pulling in nine of 11 passes for 184 yards, lifting his league-leading receiving yards total to 1023, but has made just one TD catch over his past six outings.
