CFL: Lions Look for First Win Against Visiting Tiger Cats

The Ticats finally got off the mark last week and now they hit the road to take on the winless wonders of the B.C. Lions. Can Hamilton move to 2-2 or will the Lions finally snap their streak? Al Dannity breaks down Friday’s big game and the rest if the weekend’s CFL action.

Lions can’t get caught cold
Hey B.C. Lions, what on earth do you call that? Waiting until half-time to put up a fight against the Edmonton Eskimos is not the way to get wins in the CFL. In case you hadn’t noticed, the Esks don’t actually stink this year. You on the other hand…ah well the jury is still out on that one.

The Lions did not start last week like a team hungry to record its first W of the year. That simply won’t fly against Hamilton on Friday. The Tiger Cats may only stand at 1-2 but they have been nothing if not tenacious on defense. These Ticats are hungry and will feast on any slack play early by B.C. That being said, it’s highly improbable that the Lions will start as badly as they managed last week. I like the Lions to show more fight from the start and gut out a big win this weekend.

Argos can overcome stunned Bombers
The Argonauts finally come home to Toronto this weekend where they will host a Winnipeg team that is reeling. Having opened the year 2-0, the Blue Bombers lost a squeaker 21-20 to Calgary last weekend. The hangover from a game like that can last for weeks and the last thing the Bombers need is a Toronto team looking to start its home slate in style. Not that the Argos were in any way stylish last week as they suffered a pounding in Montreal. I like Toronto to tighten things up and eek out a win this weekend.

Als and Esks will roll
If there’s one maxim in sport I live by it’s this: never argue with a confident man. Right now the Montreal Alouettes and Edmonton Eskimos are sitting pretty at 3-0 and everything is clicking. The Roughriders, at 0-3, look in no shape to put up a fight at Montreal this weekend but Calgary will be more confident against the Esks. The Stampeders have yet to click and truly stumbled to a 2-1 start. The Als and Edmonton will both lose eventually but right now I’m not betting against them.
