It’s the national sign that fall is almost here. On Labour Day Sunday the Blue Bombers will make their annual trip west to Regina for the Labour Day Classic.

These two teams are tops in the West Division with the Green Riders perfect through three games and the Bombers holding a respectable 3-1 record.

CFL Odds and Betting

To say the Roughriders have had the edge in this Labour Day classic in the Queen city is a huge under-statement. Dating back to the 2005, the Green Riders are an impressive 14-1 in the last 15 games in Regina in this classic. Overall, the Riders hold a Labour day edge 37-18 in 55 games.

However, the Blue Bombers are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games against the Roughriders. These games include a couple of late season critical matchups were the Bombers scored victories on the road.

This is always a heavily attended game for the visitors from Winnipeg. But considering the difficulties travelling during covid-19, don’t expect a large crowd this time around.

The Riders opened as 4.5-point favourites at Sports Interaction.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers

The Blue Bombers got themselves back in the win column last week with a 18-16 win at home over the Calgary Stampeders.

The club has struggled to find a consistent kicking game this season, but that changed with the effort from rookie Marc Liegghio. Liegghio was named one of the CFL’s top performers of the week after booting four field goals including the game winner with 37 seconds left in the game.

The team also welcome back Grey Cup MVP Andrew Harris for the first time this season. He rushed for 81 yards on 17 carries and scored a touchdown.

Of note, former Roughrider Receiver Naaman Roosevelt signed a deal with the Bombers this past week. Is he not expected to dress considering he did not practice earlier in the week.

Saskatchewan Roughriders

The Roughriders are a perfect 3-0 this season and have the benefit of coming off a bye week in week four. The schedule makers have been very friendly to the Green Riders this season, as this game marks the fourth consecutive home games to start the season.

Saskatchewan boasts the CFL’s best offence scoring 86 points this season for an average of 28.67 points per game. The same can be said about their defence, who have only surrounded 47 points this season, for an average of 15.67 per game.

Of note, Quarterback Cody Fajardo has completed 78.9 percent of his passes this season. That’s tops among CFL starters this year.
