Blue Bombers vs. Roughriders Prediction: CFL Week 13 Point Spread, Odds
After last week’s 47-17 win over Montreal, the Bombers have a chance to be the first team in the CFL to clinch a playoff spot with a win on Sunday. It likely won’t be easy for Winnipeg this week, however, as Saskatchewan will be rested following a bye last week. The Riders were last in action on Aug. 20 when they downed B.C. 34-29 at home.
The Blue Bombers are 7.0-point favourites to win on the CFL odds, while the total sits at 47.0.
CFL Odds and Betting
Winnipeg has dominated head-to-head action between the teams over the last few years, winning nine of the last 10 games. The total has been nearly as consistent, with eight of the last 10 games going Under. These teams met back in Week 2, with the Bombers pounding the Roughriders 45-27 in Saskatchewan.
Winnipeg leads the CFL with a 9-2 record, winning four of five road games in 2023. They’re 6-5 against the spread overall, including 2-3 ATS on the road. High scoring contests have been a trend for the Blue Bombers recently as they’ve hit the Over in four of their last six games.
Despite sitting third in the West Division, Saskatchewan’s even 5-5 record still gives them a comfortable cushion over fourth-place Calgary. They’re also an even 5-5 ATS overall, but they’ve failed to cover in three of five home dates. The Riders are another high scoring team, with the total going Over in three straight games.
Winnipeg remains a +150 favourite to win the Grey Cup, while Saskatchewan is +1800.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Last week’s blowout victory against Montreal improved Winnipeg’s win streak to five games. Quarterback Zach Collaros had a shaky start, throwing three first-half interceptions, but the two-time reigning Most Outstanding Player rebounded to finish with 240 passing yards and four touchdowns. Collaros had missed the previous game with a neck injury. A healthy Collaros is key to the Blue Bombers’ success as he leads the CFL with 20 touchdown passes and ranks third in total passing yards (2,538).
Running back Brady Oliveira continues to lead Winnipeg’s ground attack. Oliveira, who leads the CFL with 902 rushing yards, finished with 119 rushing yards and a touchdown last week, while also picking up a receiving touchdown. It’s the combo of Collaros and Oliveira that has the Bombers averaging a CFL-best 410.5 yards per game. Winnipeg ranks second in rushing yards per game (126.2), passing yards per game (284.4) and points per game (31.3).
Saskatchewan Roughriders
After leading 31-13 heading into the fourth quarter against B.C. two weeks ago, the Riders survived a late Lions comeback to squeak out a win heading into their bye week. Quarterback Jake Dolegala made his first start of the season, finishing with 239 passing yards and three touchdowns. The 26-year-old moved up the depth chart because of injuries to Trevor Harris (fractured knee) and Mason Fine (hamstring). Dolegala is expected to start again on Sunday.
Miles Brown, Larry Dean, C.J. Reavis, Pete Robertson and Anthony Lanier each recorded one sack for Saskatchewan last week. The Riders’ defence, however, has been hit-or-miss all year. Saskatchewan averages the third-fewest yards allowed per game (340.5), but they also average a CFL-high 27.2 points allowed per game. Those numbers likely mean the one thing you can count on this week is a high scoring game.
