The Blue Bombers arrive in Edmonton in a tie with BC for top spot in the CFL West at 14 points after recording five straight victories, but hold a game in hand on the idle Lions. The Elks enjoyed a bye last week in the wake of a lopsided 37-16 win over the Calgary Stampeders in Week 14 to improve to 5-1-0 in their past six games, and return to action trailing Saskatchewan by just one point in the race for third place in the division.

The Blue Bombers get the nod as slim 1.5-point road favourites on the CFL Week 16 odds. The Elks are pegged as attractive +105 underdogs on the CFL moneyline and the total is listed at 49.5.

CFL Odds and Betting

Sunday night’s matchup marks the first meeting of the season between these squads, and the first of two in seven days, with the Elks set to travel to Winnipeg for a Week 17 rematch next Saturday. The Bombers have simply dominated the Elks in head-to-head action, winning 10 straight tilts since 2018, with seven of those victories coming by double-digit margins.

While Edmonton faces the daunting task of flipping the script on the Bombers, they look to have gotten past their recent epic slide, covering the spread in each of the games during their 5-1-0 run including four outright victories as betting underdogs, and have outscored opponents by a wide 70-32 overall margin during a pair of home wins over that stretch.

The Blue Bombers have also regularly rewarded loyal CFL betting fans during their five-game tear, going undefeated against the spread including a trio of wins as betting dogs.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers

The Blue Bombers did the Elks a big favour in their past two outings, posting back-to-back wins over third-place Saskatchewan. Zach Collaros has steadily rounded into form since struggling early in the campaign. The veteran pivot tossed for 231 yards and one touchdown in last week’s 26-21 over the Riders and has now found the end zone in each of his past six outings.

Brady Oliveira remains the squad’s go-to gut in the backfield, racking up 894 rushing yards to date. However, Oliveira has averaged just 42.5 rushing yards over his past two games and has yet to produce a scoring run so far this season.

Edmonton Elks

The Elks continued to roll in their recent home-and-home series with the Calgary Stampeders. The team overcame somewhat shaky starts with big second-quarter performances to claim insurmountable halftime leads in both those contests and have scored at least 33 points in each of their recent five wins.

McLeod Bethel-Thompson has played a huge role in the team’s recent success. The veteran pivot tossed for two scores last time out versus the Stamps and has piled up nine total touchdown passes over the past four games. Bethel Thompson has enjoyed the benefit of multiple solid receiving performances. Tevin Jones emerged as his preferred target in Week 13, racking up 208 yards and two scores on five catches before Eugene Lewis led the way a week later with 97 yards and one TD catch. This one should be barn burner.
