Blue Bombers vs. Alouettes Prediction: CFL Week 4 Point Spread, Odds
With last week’s defeat, the Bombers saw their straight up and against the spread records drop to 2-1 on the season. Conversely, the Alouettes are riding high after improving to 2-0 with a dominating defensive performance in last week’s 38-12 win in Hamilton, and are also unbeaten in two straight on home turf.
Despite their fast start to the season, the Alouettes have dipped to 6-point underdogs since opening at +5.5, and have garnered the support of just 28% of the betting action. The Blue Bombers have soared to -229 moneyline favourites on the CFL Week 4 odds, and the total has held steady since opening at 48.5.
CFL Odds and Betting
Saturday night’s matchup marks the first of two dates between these teams this season. These squads split a pair of regular season clashes last year, with the road team emerging victorious in each including the Bombers’ decisive 35-20 victory when they visited Montreal last August. Overall, Winnipeg has taken eight of 11 regular season meetings from the Als, but has posted just one win in three road dates with Montreal. The OVER has gone 8-2-1 over their past 11 matchups. However, the Alouettes have limited Winnipeg to 20 or fewer points in two of their past three dates at Percival Molson Stadium.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers
After racking up an average of 43.5 points per game while storming to two straight wins to open their schedule, the Bombers attack faltered in last week’s clash with the Lions. The Winnipeg offence compiled just 235 total yards, while the offensive line allowed quarterback Zach Collaros to get sacked seven times. Collaros managed just 191 passing yards, no scores, and one interception after tossing for five touchdowns in the first two weeks of the season. Taquan Mizzell emerged as the team’s top ball carrier, compiling 50 yards on 10 touches. Last week’s defeat also raised concerns about Winnipeg’s defence, which has now surrendered a whopping 29.3 points per game during the team’s 2-1 start. Hitting the road has provided no relief for the Bombers, who have given up 38.3 points per game over their past three regular season away contests.
Montreal Alouettes
The Alouettes dominated on both sides of the ball in last week’s road win over Hamilton. The Montreal defence has been simply smothering during the team’s 2-0 start, and has yet to surrender a touchdown while allowing just 24 total points. In addition, the Als offence enjoyed a breakthrough in last week’s rout of the T-Cats. Cody Fajardo looked increasingly comfortable under center despite failing to toss a scoring pass, compiling 261 passing yards, but scored on one of his five carries in the contest. Austin Mack was one of six Montreal receivers to record a catch, and racked up a game-high 120 receiving yards, and now leads the league with an average of 100.5 receiving yards per game.
