Argonauts vs. Tiger-Cats Prediction: CFL Week 13 Point Spread, Odds
The Argos hit the road after marching to a 39-31 win over the visiting Calgary Stampeders last week, solidifying their perch atop the CFL East standings with an 8-1-0 record. The Tiger-Cats are riding high after pulling off a massive upset with last week’s 30-13 win over the BC Lions while pegged as 12-point road underdogs, but have scored an average of just 13 points per game while losing three straight on home turf.
The Argonauts are listed as 8-point road favourites on the CFL Week 13 odds. The Tiger-Cats are pegged as +280 moneyline long shots to snap their home swoon, while the total sits at 50.
CFL Odds and Betting
Monday afternoon’s matchup at Tim Hortons Field marks the third of four regular season clashes between these CFL East archrivals. The Argos topped the Tiger-Cats in each of this season’s two previous meetings, including a decisive 31-15 win in Hamilton as 10-point chalk in Week 7, and have now claimed victory in eight of nine meetings. The Argos have effectively shut down the Hamilton attack during their current 4-0 head-to-head run, surrendering just 14.3 points per game. That has helped fuel a steady 3-0 run for the UNDER in totals betting.
Toronto Argonauts
The Argonauts were forced to erase a pair of deficits before finally topping Calgary 39-31 last weekend. The victory was sweet revenge after the team was shutdown in a 20-7 defeat in Calgary in Week 10 that marks their only outright loss in 11 overall contests since last October. Quarterback Chad Kelly enjoyed another big day, topping the 300-yard mark for the fourth time this season with 361 passing yards, and connecting for three touchdowns to bring his season total to 16 scores through nine appearances. Overall, the Argonauts have scored more than 30 points in each of their eight wins to date, and averaged 41.5 points per game during their current 2-0 run. However, they have also surrendered 31 points in each of their past two contests, and have covered just once in their past three outings.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats
The Tiger-Cats extended their recent road warrior ways with last weekend’s stunning upset victory over the Lions. Overall, this squad has been successful at shutting down opponents during their current road surge, allowing just 25 total points over their past two away games. However, it has been a far different story on home turf, where the Ti-Cats have scored more than 15 points just once while going 1-4 this season. One department in which the Tiger-Cats have been consistent is totals betting, where the UNDER is currently on a 5-0 run. However, if this team is to keep pace with the Argo’s high-powered attack, they will need another big day from quarterback Taylor Powell and rusher James Butler. Elevated to the starter’s role in the wake of injuries to Bo Levi Mitchell and Matthew Shiltz, Powell found the end zone for the first time in five game appearances last week while compiling 222 yards in solid 18-for-23 passing. Butler was on the receiving end of Powell’s lone scoring toss, and added a scoring run while compiling a combined 154 yards. However, Butler was a non-factor when the Ti-Cats visited Toronto in July, amassing just 14 rushing yards.
