Argonauts vs. Alouettes Prediction: CFL Week 6 Point Spread, Odds
Week 6 of the 2023 CFL season continues Friday night in Montreal with the Alouettes playing host to the Toronto Argonauts. Sitting at an even 2-2 on the year, the Als are looking to bounce back from a 35-19 loss in B.C. last week. Coming off a bye week, the Argos downed the Lions 45-24 in Week 4 to remain the lone unbeaten team in the CFL.
Toronto opened as a five-point favourite to win in Week 6, with the total sitting at 48.0 on the CFL odds.
CFL Odds and Betting
The Argonauts won three of four head-to-heads between the teams, last year, including a 34-27 victory in the East Division Final en route a a Grey Cup title. The teams split the Over/Under evenly in those four games.
Dating back to last season, Toronto has won seven of their last eight road games. They are a perfect 3-0 against the spread in 2023, but have only covered in one of their last seven games against Montreal. The Argos have hit the Over in two of three games this season.
The Alouettes have had success at home against Toronto, winning six of the last seven games played between the teams in Montreal. They’re 2-2 ATS for the year, including 1-1 ATS at home. Montreal has split the Over/Under evenly in four games this season.
Toronto Argonauts
As mentioned, Toronto remains the only unbeaten team in the CFL and they enter Week 6 rested after a bye week. It’s the first time since 1991 that the Argos have opened a season with three straight wins. Toronto quarterback Chad Kelly was 23-of-29 passing, for 249 yards and a touchdown on July 3 against B.C. Among quarterbacks who have played three or less games this season, Kelly ranks first in both total passing yards (751) and average yards per game (250.3). He has a 2-2 TD-INT ratio on the year.
Toronto’s defence came up huge against the Lions. The unit registered six interceptions and currently leads the CFL with 11 sacks. They held a B.C. offence that entering the game was leading the league in fewest points allowed, net offensive yards and average yards per play, to 19 offensive points and just 52 rushing yards.
Montreal Alouettes
Montreal couldn’t get out of their own way in last week’s loss against the Lions. The Als turned the ball over three times and allowed quarterback Cody Fajardo to get sacked six times. Fajardo was 24-of-39 passing, for 280 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. He added 57 yards and a TD on the ground. Fajardo ranks fourth in the CFL in total passing yards (1,103) and third in yards per game (275.8). He has a 2-1 TD-INT ratio on the year.
