Alouettes vs. Tiger-Cats Prediction: CFL Week 3 Point Spread, Odds
This is the first game of a back-to-back, home and home series for the Alouettes and Tiger-Cats. At the start of the season, many prognosticators looked at the Tiger-Cats as the best team in the East, and the Alouettes as the worst in the division.
CFL Odds and Betting
The Tiger-Cats have won four of the last five games against the Alouettes, but the Als did win the last game played between these two teams (November 3, 2018). In the four wins, they only allowed 42 points against (10.5 point average).
Hamilton is a perfect 4-0 against the spread in their last four games played in June, and 9-1-1 ATS in their last 11 games played on Friday night. However, they are also 1-4 ATS in the last five games played against the East division.
The Alouettes are coming off a loss, but there are a lot of positives coming into this game with the Tiger-Cats. The Als are 4-0 ATS in their last four games following a straight up loss, and are 5-0 ATS in their last five games against teams with a winning record.
Of note, the over is 4-1 in the last five games between these two teams.
Montreal Alouettes
The Alouettes are coming off a week two bye, after a week one loss to the Edmonton Eskimos. With the team down 25-8, Vernon Adams Jr. rallied the team to tie the game up at 25, but the Eskimos scored a late touchdown to take the victory. That’s the silver lining in the dark cloud in Montreal.
Starting Quarterback Antonio Pipkin A strained his right knee and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks because of the injury; Adams will continue to take the reins. The team also brought back former draft pick (2015) Brandon Bridge who will provide depth at the position.
The injury list continues for the Als, as All-star Safety Taylor Loffler is listed as out for this game, as is Linebacker Boseko Lokombo.
The defence will be tested in this contest as they watched the Tiger-Cats put up 64 points in the Argos home opener last week.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats
The Tiger-Cats are off to a great start in the 2019 season with a 2-0 record, including a massive history making 64-10 win over the Argos in week two. The fifty point win tied a franchise record (winning margin) set back in September of 1999. The team rolled up 604 total yards, eight touchdowns, four sacks and three interceptions in the win.
There were many stars on offence, but the efforts of Receiver Bralon Addison, six catches, 107 yards (three touchdowns) and Running back Sean Thomas-Erlington (109 yards on 12 carries) stood out.
Quarterback Jeremiah Masoli has put up 507 passing yards, four touchdowns and an interception in two games.
Linebacker Simoni Lawrence, who is appealing his two-game suspension but will play in this contest, recorded his second interception of the season last week. He led a defence that allowed only 12 rushing yards against (James Wilder Jr. 6-12 yards).
