The Alouettes romped to a 37-13 victory over the Riders in last week’s home opener at Percival Molson Stadium, but are winless in two road dates this season. With last week’s defeat, the Roughriders saw their straight up record drop to 2-1-0, but are undefeated in their past three home contests.

Despite being outclassed in last week’s visit to Montreal, the Roughriders have vaulted to 4.5-point favourites in Saturday’s contest after opening as 3.5-point chalk. The Alouettes lag as +167 moneyline underdogs. The total has climbed to 46.0 since opening at 45.5, with 86 per cent of the betting action backing the OVER.

CFL Odds and Betting

Saturday night’s matchup at Mosaic Stadium marks the second and final regular season meeting between these teams. With last week’s victory, the Als snapped a four-game straight up losing streak against the Roughriders. However, Saskatchewan has regularly held the upper hand in head-to-head clashes on home turf, winning outright in five of seven, but have covered the spread just twice over that stretch.

Montreal’s offensive outburst in last week’s contest paid dividends for bettors taking the OVER, which has now paid out in three of five dates between these teams. However, the UNDER enjoys a reliable 3-1-0 run when these clubs face off in Saskatchewan.

Montreal Alouettes

After enduring a slow start in a disappointing 20-19 loss in Toronto in Week 2, the Alouettes rebounded in last week’s home opener. Chandler Worthy returned the opening kickoff 88 yards to record the second fastest touchdown to open a game in CFL history. And Montreal never looked back, racking up a 23-3 score by halftime, on their way to their most lopsided victory since October 2018.

Trevor Harris looked increasingly comfortable under centre, completing 16 passes for 262 yards and one score, and no interceptions. With Vernon Adams Jr. set to return, head coach Khari Jones faces a tough decision. Adams was anointed as starting quarterback at the start of the season, but has been sidelined by COVID-19. However, given his performance last week, CFL betting fans should expect Harris to get the start.

Saskatchewan Roughriders

Slow starts have also plagued the Roughriders in the early going of the 2022 CFL campaign. The Riders offence has found the end zone just once while tallying an average of just seven points before halftime over their first three contests.

Indeed, Cody Fajardo struggled to spark the attack against a ferocious Montreal defence that sacked that Riders passer four times before recess. Things got no better in the second half, with the Als secondary tallying three more sacks and a pick-six before Fajardo was pulled in favour of backup Mason Fine. Fajardo’s shaky start to the season his raised doubts about his ability to lead this team to a Grey Cup on home turf later this year. However, he has remained resilient on the CFL season player props as a +550 bet to emerge as the CFL’s regular season passing yards leader.
