This game presents a very intriguing matchup according to the trends. The Montreal Alouettes are once again the worst team in the league and are also once again without their starting quarterback. Johnny Manziel will miss another week of action, while the Redblacks enter this game atop the East and winners of four of their last five. That doesn’t tell the full story though.

Betting Analysis

The Redblacks come in favoured by -16.5! No need to scratch your eyes, that’s a real spread. Ottawa has been terrific on their home turf all season going 3-1 with their only loss coming back in July to the highflying Stamps.

The RedBlacks are also just 1-3 ATS at home this season, while Montreal is 4-1 ATS on the road. The Als haven’t done much right this season, but they have made some people a few bucks by being terrible. With that, they enter this one as 16.5-point underdogs on our CFL Odds board.

Montreal Alouettes

The “Can Johnny Manziel make it in the CFL” question will have to wait another week. It appears that Antonio Pipkin will get his third straight start after Manziel just returned from concussion protocol on Monday. As the Als learned the hard way by rushing Johnny Money into the lineup for his debut, patience is a virtue.

That being said, Pipkin did lead the Als to a win last week over Toronto 25-22 although you shouldn’t get excited just yet. Despite the win he’s only thrown one touchdown in two outings and the Redblacks lead the East in Points For with 244. He’ll need more than one six-pointer if he and the Als want to keep up on Friday.

Ottawa RedBlacks

Once again Trevor Harris has his team in front in the East. They‘re two wins up on second place Hamilton and showing no signs of slowing down. They also enter this game coming off a BYE week and a 24-17 win over Montreal just two weeks prior, but the numbers are a tad deceiving.

They’re still only 4-5 ATS through their last ten and as of this posting are only getting 35% of bettors facing such a huge spread. Despite Trevor Harris’ league leading 69% completion rate, he sits in third in touchdowns by a landslide with only 10 to his name.
