The Lions return home for their early regular season finale already assured of a playoff spot after clinching third place in the CFL West standings two weeks ago with a 32-15 victory over Calgary. However, that marks just third victory in 11 games since opening their campaign on a torrid 5-1-0 run. The Alouettes have long been assured of finishing atop the CFL East standings with a league-leading 12-3-1 record but must find ways to get motivated in their final two games after stumbling to a 2-2-1 record over their past five contests including a 1-1-1 mark over their past three road dates.

Eager to close out their schedule with consecutive home wins for the first time since July, the Lions lead the way as narrow 1.5-point home favourites on the CFL Week 1 odds. The Alouettes trail as attractive +110 underdogs on the CFL moneyline and the total sits at 48.5.

CFL Odds and Betting

The Alouettes have work to do to flip the script on a dismal track record against the Lions when they hit the gridiron for Saturday night’s matchup at BC Place. The Lions have dominated while recording three straight victories over the Als, capped by a 37-23 win in Montreal back in Week 14, in their lone previous meeting this season.

Overall, the Lions have claimed victory by an average margin of 13 points during their current 3-0-0 head-to-head run and have now topped the Alouettes in 12 of 14 meetings including five straight dates in BC. With the Lions averaging over 35 points per game, the OVER has paid out in each of their three recent wins, and with 10 of their 12 recent wins over Montreal coming by nine or more points, the Lions have also gone 12-2 against the spread over that stretch.

Montreal Alouettes

The Lions’ recent dominance in head-to-head action represents a huge challenge for an Alouettes squad that has struggled to generate points during their 2-2-1 late-season swoon. The Als have reached 20 points just twice in their past four games and have struggled to reward loyal sports bettors while covering just twice in their past six games.

The Als are also returning to action on just four days rest after rolling to a 19-12 victory over the RedBlacks on Thanksgiving Monday. Having Cody Fajardo back under centre should help. The veteran passer has been away from the team to since his wife gave birth to their second child last week in the US. Fajardo is coming off a two-TD performance in a 37-31 loss in Toronto three weeks ago, ending a run of two games without a scoring pass.

BC Lions

The Lions should have plenty of motivation to hit the reset button and finish their schedule on a high after getting embarrassed in last week’s 39-8 loss in Saskatchewan. BC has now surrendered 32 or more points in each of the three defeats during their current 1-3-0 run and have been lit up for an average of 27.4 points per game during their brutal 3-8-0 run.

The loss has cost Nathan Rourke his job as starting quarterback. After returning to the team following a failed bid to claim a job in the NFL, the Victoria native took over the reins of the offence from injured veteran Vernon Adams Jr. But after failing to find the end zone in his past four outings and tossing two picks last week, Adams is poised to reclaim his job and make his case to be the team’s playoff starter. The 31-year-old played a key role in the Lions’ hot start, tossing for 14 touchdowns in his first six starts before getting sidelined by a leg injury.
