Jake Paul vs. Ryan Bourland: Boxing Odds, Prediction
Paul is a -1600 favourite to win on the boxing odds with Bourland at +900 and a draw +2000.
Is Jake Paul Injured?
Let’s first note that Jake Paul vs. Ryan Bourland is not the main event of Saturday night’s card that will be streamed by DAZN. That would be Amanda Serrano vs. Nina Meinke for Serrano’s IBF, WBO and WBA featherweight women’s titles. Serrano is a -2500 favourite to keep her belts with Meinke at +1000.
Paul vs. Bourland will be contested at cruiserweight (200 pounds). The 27-year-old Paul (8-1, five KOs) now lives in a $16 million mansion in Puerto Rico right next to boxing brother Logan as they moved there in part due to tax reasons. Paul is 2-0 since his lone loss, a controversial split decision to Tommy Fury in February 2023. In August that year, Paul beat former UFC star Nate Diaz by one-sided unanimous decision.
In December 2023, Paul had maybe his best fight as he took out Andre August via first-round KO. Paul landed a right uppercut that caught August clean and bounced him off the canvas headfirst. The referee called the bout off with 28 seconds remaining in Round 1. The 35-year-old August represented Paul’s most experienced foe yet.
“Set up my shot and he went night-night,” Paul said after. “This is all part of the process, the next step to world champion. Clearly these guys can’t hang with me.”
Paul says he will donate his entire purse from this fight to his nonprofit Boxing Bullies, with the funds going to help renovate gyms across Puerto Rico. He is taking a different tack in opponents of late – skipping MMA crossover guys but actual boxers with experience — with eyes on eventually competing for a boxing world title. Paul winning by KO/TKO/DQ is the -500 favourite followed by decision at +450. Paul claims he was injured in training but hasn’t gone into specifics other than posting a YouTube video on X called: “I Got Injured Before My Fight…” and then writing “Doubt me all you want. This is my destiny and I will fulfill it.” There has been no talk of canceling the fight.
Bourland Out Of Retirement
The 35-year-old Bourland, who stands 6-foot-0, is a former Golden Gloves champion and National Junior Olympics boxer. He is 17-2 with six KOs as a professional but hasn’t fought since a TKO win over Santario Martin in September 2022. That bout was Bourland’s only fight in the last six years. He’s un-retiring for this one.
Bourland, nicknamed “Rhino,” has been living in North Dakota since 2018 and working long hours on the oil rigs. To win by KO/TKO/DQ, he is +1600 and decision +2000. Bourland has always been known for his aggressive nature, and he said that won’t change with this bout.
“He’s a strong guy, and I know he’s knocked some people out,” Bourland said. “He’s pretty new to boxing. I’m pretty experienced, but I know he’s very dedicated. It should be a good fight. He’s a strong dude. … I’m still going to do what I do, but I think we have a great game plan for the fight. I’m going to keep my same style, but it will be a different game plan than other fights.”
That the fight goes the full eight rounds is +350 with no at -600.
Sports Interaction also offers a special on which fighter Paul takes on next with KSI as a +250 favourite. Otherwise known as Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji, KSI fought Logan Paul twice, one in an exhibition that finished in a majority draw in 2018 and again in a legitimate bout in 2019, beating Paul by split decision. Another London-type personality, Viddal Riley, is +400 to be the Jake Paul next opponent and then there’s a major drop-off odds-wise.
