2023 Oscars Betting Odds: 95th Academy Award Predictions
2023 marks the very first “post-slap” Academy Awards ceremony, and after last year’s overall messy fiasco, Academy CEO Bill Kramer promised that this year’s show will be “much more immersive, much more nominee-focused, and much more focused on all of the disciplines of filmmaking.” You know, like it probably always should have been. Sports Interaction has the betting odds on every category at this year’s event, and we have some predictions for the major categories.

Best Picture Odds
It’s getting hard to bet against Everything, Everywhere All at Once – the film by the Daniels that’s taking awards season by storm. Sweeps at all four of the major guild awards certainly points toward an Oscar win, but you should keep in mind that it was Spielberg’s The Fabelmens that took the top prize at this year’s Golden Globes and German war drama All Quiet on the Western Front that surprised everyone with a Best Picture win at the BAFTAs.
Prediction: Everything Everywhere All at Once
Dark Horse: All Quiet on the Western Front
Best Director Odds
It’s rare that the Best Director statue doesn’t go to the director of the Best Picture, but it does happen. Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert would make the most sense for a win here, but don’t discount the Academy’s love for movies about movies, and Spielberg’s The Fabelmens is a love letter to cinema.
Prediction: Daniels
Dark Horse Who is Also the World’s Most Famous Director: Spielberg
Best Actress Odds
The media is having a field day trying to pit two-time winner Cate Blanchett against Michelle Yeoh in this closely contested race, but the odds appear to be in Blanchett’s favour. That said, EEAAO is this year’s most original, fun nominee and it’s freshness could sway voters looking to shake up the industry. Do not be surprised to see Michelle Yeoh up on the stage giving a crowd-rousing acceptance speech.
Prediction: Michelle Yeoh
Also a Smart Bet: Cate Blanchett
Best Actor Odds
This one is another tight race, this time between Brendan Fraser’s “comeback” role in The Whale and Austin Butler’s turn as some guy named Elvis Presley. There’s been some backlash against The Whale, but most cannot deny that Fraser knocked it out of the park in the lead role. Academy voters want to see tears on the winner’s stage, and the Dolby Theatre would be filled with onion-cutters if the Encino Man got to take home the grand prize.
Prediction: Brendan Fraser
Dark Elvis: Austin Butler
Best Supporting Actress Odds
Angela Bassett seems like the clear winner here, she hasn’t been up for an Oscar since her stellar turn as Tina Turner in What’s Love Got to Do With It in 1994. Fun trivia – hers is the first Marvel movie-nominated performance ever! Jamie Lee Curtis just won the SAG award in this category and bizarrely, has never been nominated for an Oscar until now, which could actually influence voters to give her a long overdue nod.
Prediction: Angela Bassett
Also a Smart Bet: Jamie Lee Curtis
Best Supporting Actor Odds
Expect riots if universally-beloved Ke Huy Quan doesn’t take home a little gold statuette. His “child actor returns to the screen after DECADES away” story is simply too heartwarming for Oscar voters to resist.
Prediction: Ke Huy Quan
For Real, Though: Ke Huy Quan
