The Indiana Fever announced some tough injury news on Tuesday, saying guard Sophie Cunningham will miss the remainder of the season with a torn MCL in her right knee.

Cunningham, 29, suffered the injury Sunday in the second quarter of a 99-93 win over the Connecticut Sun.

A native of Columbia, Missouri, the Mizzou alum is in her seventh WNBA season and first with Indiana after playing six years with the Phoenix Mercury. Over 30 games this season, Cunningham is averaging 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists in just over 25 minutes per night.

It’s a big blow to an Indiana roster that is already without Sydney Colson (ACL) and Aari McDonald (broken foot) for the remainder of the season. That’s all in addition to the absence of Caitlin Clark (groin), who has been limited to just 13 games in her sophomore campaign.

The Fever (19-16), who sit third in the Eastern Conference standings and sixth overall, next face the league-best Minnesota Lynx (28-5) at home on Friday.
