Report: Atlanta Dream acquire Angel Reese from Chicago Sky for two first-round picks
Angel Reese is on the move.
As the WNBA’s free agency period opened on Monday, it has been reported the Chicago Sky are trading two-time all-star Angel Reese to the Atlanta Dream for a pair of first-round draft picks.
Here’s what you need to know.
Angel Reese
The details of the trade will reportedly see Chicago send Reese and a 2028 second-round pick swap to Atlanta for the Dream’s 2027 and 2028 first-round picks.
The 23-year-old Reese is set to enter her third WNBA season after being named an all-star and leading the league in rebounding in each of her first two seasons. For her WNBA career, she is averaging 14.1 points and 12.9 rebounds per game while shooting 42.1 per cent from the floor.
Reese was named to the 2024 WNBA All-Rookie Team and she was the 2025 Defensive Player of the Year as a member of the winning team in Unrivalled, a 3-on-3 professional women’s basketball league. Those accolades follow a stellar college career that saw her named Most Outstanding Player when she led LSU to a national title in 2023.
Chicago and Atlanta
It’s been a frustrating two-year span for the Sky, who have finished with 13-27 and 10-34 records despite Reese’s individual success. Chicago isn’t expected to be any better this season as they have the fourth-longest odds to win the WNBA championship at +8000.
For Atlanta, the Reese addition bolsters a strong lineup that topped the Eastern Conference last season with a 30-14 record before they were bounced in the first round of the playoffs by the Indiana Fever. At +900, the Dream currently have the fifth-shortest odds to win the WNBA title this season.
