2022 French Open: Women’s Semifinal Tennis Odds, Predictions
The semis start with top-seeded Iga Swiatek facing No. 20 Daria Kasatkina in one side and No. 18 Coco Gauff vs. Martina Trevisan in the other. Swiatek and Gauff are favoured to meet on the tennis odds in Saturday’s final.
Swiatek vs. Kasatkina French Open Odds
No question that the most dominant tennis player on the planet right now is women’s world No. 1 Iga Swiatek of Poland. In the French Open quarterfinals, she routed American and No. 11 seed Jessica Pegula 6-3, 6-2 for her 33rd straight victory, the longest on the WTA Tour since Serena Williams won 34 in a row in 2013.
Swiatek has lost one set in Paris and that was the first of the fourth round against Qinwen Zheng, but then she easily won the next two 6-0, 6-2. Swiatek won the 2020 French Open title over American Sofia Kenin to become the first Pole to win a major singles title. She lost last year in the quarterfinals and was eliminated in the semifinals of this year’s first major, the Australian Open.
The Russian Kasatkina has reached her first Grand Slam semifinal. Her best previous result at Roland Garros was the quarterfinals in 2018. Kasatkina has not lost a set in this tournament, advancing with a 6-4, 7-6(5) win over No. 29 Veronika Kudermetova.
Swiatek is the -1012 favourite to win the match and -425 favourite for the tournament. Kasatkina is +524 for the match and +1000 to win the French Open.
Swiatek is 3-1 all-time vs. Kasatkina and won all three this year in straight sets. None of those were on clay courts.
Gauff vs. Trevisan French Open Odds
American Cori “Coco” Gauff reached the semifinals of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over former U.S. Open champion and fellow American Sloane Stephens in the French quarterfinals. The 18-year-old has not dropped a set in this tournament or even had a match longer than 90 minutes.
Last year, Gauff had five set points in the opening set of her French Open quarterfinal match against Barbora Krejcikova. She failed to convert any of them and would lose. When she was 14, Gauff captured the junior singles title at the French Open.
Unseeded Martina Trevisan of Italy, 28, is in her first Grand Slam semifinal as well. Her previous best was the 2020 quarters in Paris. Trevisan upset No. 17 Leylah Fernandez of Canada in three sets in the last round.
Gauff is -336 to win this match and +489 for the tournament, while Trevisan is +233 and +1980, respectively.
Trevisan won the only previous match between the two in three sets in the second round of the 2020 French Open.
