World Series odds

Toronto’s World Series odds have seen a significant shift. After beginning the year at a lofty +6000 to win the World Series, the Jays now have the second-shortest odds at +325. Oddsmakers have completely shifted their opinion on the Blue Jays after they posted the best record in the American League (94-68) and scored 23 runs while taking a 2-0 lead over the New York Yankees in the ALDS.

It’s no surprise to see the defending World Series champion Dodgers slightly ahead of Toronto on the oddsboard at +240. L.A. swept the Reds in the Wild Card series and they have a 1-0 lead over the Phillies in the NLDS. Although, it’s worth keeping in mind the last time a team won back-to-back World Series’ was the Yankees when they won three from 1998 to 2000. Before that, it was Toronto in 1992 and 1993.

Rounding out the top-five World Series favourites are the Brewers (+550), Mariners (+650) and Tigers (+850).

World Series MVP

It’s the big names that lead the way for World Series MVP favourite.

Blue Jays slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has finally broken out, with six hits, two home runs (including the only playoff grand slam in franchise history), six RBIs and a .667 batting average in the first two games of the ALDS. Guerrero has the second-shortest World Series MVP odds at +1400.

The heavy favourite for World Series MVP, however, is two-way Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani at +550. Ohtani won his first career playoff start on the mound on Saturday with nine strikeouts over six innings. He’s also batting .231 with three hits, two home runs and four RBIs in 13 at-bats this postseason.

The rest of the top-five favourites for World Series MVP are Seattle’s Cal Raleigh (+1600), Toronto’s George Springer (+1800) and Milwaukee’s Jackson Chourio (+2000).
