Real Madrid vs. Bayern Munich Champions League Preview and Prediction
A Champions League quarterfinal matchup featuring clubs no stranger to the victors’ podium kicks off in the Spanish capital. Real Madrid, 15-time winners, host six-time champion Bayern Munich at the Bernabeu at 3 p.m. ET.
It’s the first meeting between the two clubs since the Merengues’ dramatic added-time victory in the second leg of the 2024 semifinals en route to their last title. Bayern’s last Champions League crown took place in 2020.
Madrid are coming off a demoralizing 2-1 defeat at RCD Mallorca, further damaging their hopes of catching first-place Barcelona in La Liga. Bayern, well on their way to a 13th Bundesliga crown in 14 years, rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit to defeat SC Freiburg.
This classic rivalry is one of the most contested in UCL history, with 28 meetings.
Real Madrid vs. Bayern Munich Odds and Betting Trends
Despite Real Madrid’s historical dominance in this matchup, Bayern come in as +120 favourites on the Champions League odds. The hosts are listed at +187, while the draw is available at +310.
The total sits at 2.5 goals, with -225 on the over and +175 on the under.

Real Madrid
The Merengues have defeated Bayern in three previous UCL quarterfinal meetings and are 7-0-2 in their last nine meetings with the German giants in this competition.
Madrid has weathered a litany of injuries this season, nearly 50 in all. Key absentees for this match include goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, forward Rodrygo, midfielder Dani Ceballos, and left-back Ferland Mendy. Jude Bellingham’s fitness is also in question.
Uruguayan Federico Valverde has been magical statistically in all competitions this season, but has dealt with suspension concerns in recent games.
Mbappe and Vinicious Junior are as good as it gets up top, and Eder Militao is now back in the lineup on the back line, with Andriy Lunin between the pipes in place of Courtois.
Bayern Munich
Bayern is as good as anyone on the road in the Champions League this season. They are 6-1-1 away from Allianz Arena, including a 6-1 dismantling at Atalanta in the round of 16.
Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies have returned from ankle and muscle issues, but Kane, who has 14 goals in 13 UCL appearances this season, is in doubt with that lingering ankle issue.
Manuel Neuer and virtually all of his backups in goal are also in question with injury concerns.
The club have won nine of 10 in UCL play, and their 32 goals in the competition this season trails only reigning champs PSG.
Champions League Prediction: Who Will Win Real Madrid vs. Bayern Munich?
Madrid holds a slight 13-11-4 edge over Bayern in this competition. And the Bernabeu, where Real are unbeaten (7-0-1) in eight, continues to serve as the club’s fortress. Coach Alvaro Arbeloa’s side is 19-1-5 at home against German sides in its most recent competitions.
But Bayern are coming in as the favourites because of better health and slightly better performance on the pitch. If any side can come out of the Bernabeu with a first-leg advantage, it’s the Bundesliga’s best. Look for Bayern to secure a 2-1 first-leg victory and pressure its Spanish opponents in the return leg.
