Netherlands vs. Ukraine Prediction: Euro 2020 Betting Odds
The Netherlands is walking into Euro 2020 as arguably the most successful international team that has never won a FIFA World Cup. While the team hasn’t been very lucky over the years, they enter with yet another fantastic chance to make a run. They have to get through Ukraine first, though, and they aren’t a walk in the park either. Their qualifying run was pretty good, but they aren’t coming into this match with much momentum on their side. Will they be able to jump out to a hot start or will the Netherlands set them back?

Netherlands
Picking up former Ajax manager Frank de Boer could end up being one of the Netherlands’ biggest moves since last year. He has provided tremendous leadership and it has helped them bounce back after losing to Turkey 4-2. They were able to absolutely crush Gibraltar by a 7-0 scoreline and won again after that. This Netherlands squad are currently the favourites in Group C this year, as they are not only a quality team but they’re the host.
They have a few terrific players on their current roster including Donyell Malen and Owen Wijndal, who should each be able to help them in this game. However, the biggest factor for the Netherlands is Frenkie de Jong. Jong has improved vastly over the last few years and it has helped form a great duo with Goerginio Wijnaldum. If Jong is able to perform up to expectations in this tournament, we could see the Netherlands not only take down Ukraine but also position themselves to win the whole thing.
Ukraine
Ukraine has high hopes for this tournament, but their aspirations are not to win it all. For them, getting out of the group stage would be a success. They impressed in qualifying, though, as they finished ahead of Portugal in their group and were sixth-best overall. They even finished ahead of Netherlands, so this isn’t a team to look past.
This will be the fourth youngest team in the championship this year and they are led by Andriy Shevchenko. He has been able to keep this team together despite undergoing massive changes defensively. Defence is probably their biggest concern at the moment, but they do have a number of veteran players to take over that end of the field. They only allowed four goals in qualifying.
Flipping over to their offence, Oleksandr Zinchenko is going to have to be their top performer to keep his team in the game. Zinchenko is just 24 years old, but is considered a young star already and has proven to be an offensive weapon for Ukraine. Many consider Ukraine to have one of the most talented teams on paper this year, though they just have not been able to play like it yet. Zinchenko and company will hope to change that early on against the Netherlands and get themselves off on the right foot.
