This matchweek of the EPL features one of the most competitive matchups of the season (without Liverpool, of course). Both sides have a lot to prove, and neither will want to give up points this Sunday as they return from this week’s first round of Champions League matches.

Catch another epic showdown between the Gunners and Citizens with kickoff occurring on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. ET. Check out my choices for the big game below.

Arsenal is a -115 favourite to win on the Premier League odds, while Manchester City is a +290 underdog. A regulation draw is priced at +270.

Manchester City vs. Arsenal EPL Odds and Betting Trends

Eighth-place Man City could easily catch up to second-place Arsenal with a win here, although three points for either side is easier said than done. The two sides have met on five separate occasions since June 2023, with Manchester City failing to win any, drawing three against the Gunners, while Arsenal have taken home two wins, with their most recent meeting ending in a 5-1 victory for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Out of those five matches, only one ended scoreless, resulting in a total of 13 goals. Arsenal come into this one as favourites at -150 on the three-way moneyline, and a draw is actually more likely to occur (+270) over Manchester City taking the win at +290 odds. Considering how Arsenal’s grown over the previous season, and the need to win big games to contend for the title with Liverpool, I’m picking Arsenal to win.

Manchester City

Manchester City have been relatively inconsistent over their initial four games this season, but their recent 3-0 victory over Manchester United may have them back on track. They sit in eighth place on the ladder with six points, and always have the everlasting threat of Erling Haaland up front.

The Norwegian striker stands atop the EPL goal-scoring charts with five goals so far in the campaign and carries a +185 price to score against the Gunners. Tijani Reijnders (+425) has also been consistently putting up chances and has one goal to his name so far in the season.

Arsenal

A win here for Arsenal would be a major turning point for their crusade for first place, as only Liverpool (and maybe Tottenham) would stand in their way. The Gunners enter matchweek five of the EPL after snatching a 2-0 win against Athletic Club in matchday one of the Champions League. They’ve had no issues with scoring goals either, as their last Premier League match ended in a 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest.

Arsenal forward Viktor Gyokeres continues to be a handful for opposing teams, and enters the match with three goals so far, as he is the most likely to score anytime at +130. While teammates Martin Zubimendi and Jurrien Timber each have two goals to their name so far in the season, Gabriel Martinelli, with his first goal of the season for the Gunners coming in the Champions League, is likely to score today at +300, along with Eberechi Eze at +250 odds.

EPL Prediction: Who Will Win Manchester City vs. Arsenal?

Arsenal have been a money maker so far, with their win over Nottingham last week, but City will be another tough test for the Gunners. Pep Guardiola’s side may have throttled United with a 3-0 win in their last match, but they’ve been too inconsistent for me to put my money on them.

Even so, Erling Haaland to score anytime at +185 is great odds, but I’m predicting Arsenal to win 2-1 this time and earn another three crucial points.
