FC Dallas vs. Vancouver Whitecaps Prediction: MLS Playoffs Preview, Betting Odds

Get ready for another showdown between #7 FC Dallas vs #2 Vancouver Whitecaps, this time in Dallas.

The Whitecaps have a 1-0 series advantage as they head to Toyota Stadium to face off against FC Dallas in their territory. A win for Vancouver tonight would instantly lock them in a Conference Semifinals spot along with seven other teams, while a win for Dallas would force a third game in Vancouver on November 7. Catch the action occurring tonight at 9:30 pm ET, and be sure to check out the MLS odds and my picks for the game below.

FC Dallas vs. Vancouver Whitecaps MLS Playoffs Odds and Betting Trends

Dallas and Vancouver clash for the third straight game after these teams met in the final game of the regular season AND the first leg of the playoffs. The final regular-season meeting only mattered for seeding, but the win clinched Dallas the #7 seed on decision day, while knocking the Whitecaps down to the #2 seed under San Diego FC on goal differential. The first leg wasn’t a similar story, as it ended in a blowout victory for Vancouver, claiming a comfortable 3-0 scoreline, which puts them at an advantage for going through to the next round.

Despite being the home side tonight, Dallas comes in at +230 odds to win, while a draw at the end of regulation is set at +280. Vancouver is your continuous favourites on the night, marked to win at -105 by the end of regulation. As for the total, under 3.5 goals (-165) is the most likely outcome according to oddsmakers. A tie by the end of regulation would send the game straight to penalties.

Vancouver Whitecaps

The Whitecaps exited their regular season campaign in second place in the MLS West (63 points). In their last eight games of the season, the Whitecaps sealed a 5-1-2 record, with their only loss to FC Dallas on Decision Day. However, they lead the series 1-0 in the first round of the MLS Playoffs after their 3-0 victory.

Thomas Müller, Daniel Rios, and Kenji Cabera all lead their team in the playoffs with one goal apiece. Daniel Rios leads the way tonight as the most likely goalscorer at +170, followed by Nelson Pierre and Müller at +175.

FC Dallas

It’s a must-win tonight for FC Dallas, a team that barely clinched a spot in the Playoffs on Decision Day. Overall, Dallas was completely overpowered in the first match of this series, taking only one shot throughout with 38% possession.

While it doesn’t seem too hopeful for Dallas, a tie by the end of regulation could be their saving grace, as they may have a slight advantage during penalty kicks at home. They have zero goals in the playoffs so far, yet Petar Musa (18 goals during the season) comes in as the night’s highest probable goalscorer at +145.

MLS Playoffs Prediction: Who Will Win FC Dallas vs. Vancouver Whitecaps?

The Whitecaps appear to have a clear walkthrough in this series after recording 18 shots, 10 on target, with 63% possession and a 3-0 scoreline the first time out. FC Dallas lacks the answers, and with the creative midfield play between Sabbi, Muller, Berhalter, and Ahmed, Rios finds free rein up top – allowing the Whitecaps to have unmatched goalscoring threats.

It could be close, but I’m expecting at least a 1-0 win for the Whitecaps by the end of 90’ (-105) to send them through to the semis.
