Euro 2016 Group A odds

Albania

Euro 2016 odds: +49900

FIFA Ranking: 45

Player to Watch: Rey Manaj, striker – 19-year-old already drawing comparisons to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

This is Albania’s first appearance in the European Championship and realistically, not much is expected of this side. Expect the Albanians to use a compact formation that tries to limit its opponents’ chances as much as possible. If Albania can pick up a result or two in the group stage, this tournament would be considered a massive success.

France

Euro 2016 Odds: +325

FIFA Ranking: 21

Player to Watch: Paul Pogba, midfield – Won the Best Young Player of 2014 World Cup.

If France doesn’t make it to the semifinals, many will consider this tournament a disappointment for the host nation. That’s a lot of pressure, but this team has a good mix of youth and experience with Pogba and Anthony Martial leading the new wave and stalwarts like Patrice Evra solidifying the back line. If France stays healthy they should roll through the group stage easily and the path to the final four looks promising.

Romania

Euro 2016 Odds: +19900

FIFA Ranking: 19

Player to Watch: Vlad Chiriches, defender – Romania’s captain and centre fullback is the heart of the team.

Romania’s strength comes from the back and they went through Euro 2016 qualifying unbeaten, which has their supporters eyeing a berth in the knockout stage. We won’t have to wait long to see how that defence measures up with Romania facing the host nation France in the tournament’s opening match on June 10. A win over Albania and a draw against France or Switzerland may be enough to get out of the group stage.

Switzerland

Euro 2016 Odds: +6500

FIFA Ranking: 14

Player to Watch: Xherdan Shaqiri, midfield – Nicknames ‘Magic Dwarf’, ‘Alpine Messi’ and ‘Power Cube’ tell the story with Shaquiri.

Switzerland finished just behind England in Group E qualifying with an impressive record of 7-0-3 while scoring 24 times in those 10 games. As long as Switzerland gets three points from their first game against Albania, they should be able to go through. This is an exciting team to watch in Group A, so expect some highlight finishes.
