English Premier League Odds, Prediction: Manchester United vs. Bournemouth
You might want to close your eyes if you are a Bournemouth fan because Saturday’s match against Manchester United could be painful to watch. Relegation-threatened Bournemouth is heading into Old Trafford against a Manchester United team who are a commanding -693 favourite. Bournemouth comes in as +1500 underdogs and a draw sits at +598. Match time is set for 10 a.m. ET.
Manchester United Odds and News
Don’t let the mismatch fool you, Manchester United is in the thick of a tight Champions League qualifying race and should not take this match lightly. Chelsea’s loss to West Ham, on Wednesday, puts United only two points back of the Blues. Another Chelsea loss on Saturday means United will leapfrog them in the standings with a win over Bournemouth.
After an up-and-down start to the season, the Red Devils have been hot since the arrival of Bruno Fernandes. The Portuguese midfielder has been directly involved in more goals (six goals, four assists) since his debut 12 matches ago, than any other Premier League player in that time and United has outscored their opponents 28-4 in those matches.
United have won four of their last five matches and have not suffered a loss since January 22. The Red Devils are coming off a dominating 3-0 win over Brighton on Tuesday and should be nearly completely healthy as a squad.
Bournemouth Odds and News
Trending in the opposite direction of United, Bournemouth’s 27-points on the season has put them in the relegation zone. While there is still time to prevent a demotion, there is currently only a seven-point gap between the bottom five teams in the Premier League and every possible point will be precious to Bournemouth.
On the positive side, forward Josh King’s lone goal in Bournemouth’s last match against United, helped them to an upset win over the Red Devils in November. With King expected to return from an ankle injury on Saturday, Bournemouth will need him at top form if they want to walk away with another win.
After losing both matches since the league restart, Bournemouth will be forced to get back on track without the help of forward Callum Wilson (suspension) and defenders Simon Francis and Charlie Daniels, who are both out with knee injuries.
