Robert Lewandowski leads the Bundesliga with 26 goals as Bayern Munich gets set for a date with Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.
First-place Bayern Munich is by far the biggest betting favourite on the soccer odds board to win in German Bundesliga action this weekend as it hosts Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.
Road teams dominated the return of the Bundesliga last weekend with just one home club winning. Bayern Munich had little trouble in a 2-0 victory at Union Berlin on Sunday to maintain a four-point lead atop the league table. Robert Lewandowski, who leads the Bundesliga in scoring (26 goals), had a goal in the 40th minute and Benjamin Pavard headed in a corner in the 80th. Canadian Alphonso Davies was able to make 34 successful passes and played the entire match as a defender.
Netminder and Bayern captain Manuel Neuer has now kept a clean sheet at least once against all 35 Bundesliga clubs he has played against. It was Bayern’s seventh straight win including non-league action and it hasn’t lost since a friendly vs. Nurnberg on Jan. 11. The club’s last Bundesliga loss was Dec. 7 (11 wins in a row, one draw).
Bayern Munich vs. Eintracht Frankfurt Odds
In addition, Bayern has scored 50 goals in 16 Bundesliga games since Hansi Flick took over as head coach. That 3.1 goals per game average is the best average of any head coach in Bundesliga history. Lewandowski has scored 12 of those 50 goals and is just the second player in the league’s history alongside ex-Bayern legend Gerd Müller to reach 26 goals in 26 matches in a single season.
Eintracht Frankfurt sit 13th in the table with 28 points, 30 back of Bayern Munich. Frankfurt lost 3-1 at home to Borussia Monchengladbach last weekend. André Silva had the lone goal for Frankfurt, which earned 10 points from its first four matches in 2020, but has lost its last four (outscored 13-2). Silva is third on the team with five league goals.
On the season, Eintracht have scored only 39 goals and allowed 44, for a negative-5 differential. By comparison, Bayern Munich is at plus-49.
These teams last met on Nov. 2, 2019, and Bayern was upset 5-1. It was down to 10 men after the ninth-minute dismissal of Jerome Boateng. Head coach Niko Kovac was fired the next day.
Bundesliga odds have Bayern at -714 to win this match with Frankfurt at +1100 and a draw +600. The over-under is 3.5 goals, with the over a -152 favourite. Lewandowski is +210 to be the first goalscorer and Davies is +2100. For an anytime goal, Lewandowski is -313 and Davies +540. Davies has one goal in league play.
