Austria vs. France: Euro 2024 Odds, Prediction
Group D action at the 2024 Euros continues Monday in Dusseldorf, Germany, with France facing Austria at 3 p.m. ET.
France is No. 2 in the FIFA world rankings, but they’ll be looking for a better result than their last European Championship when they were bounced by Switzerland in the Round of 16.
The 25th ranked team in the world, Austria also reached the Round of 16 in 2020, which was their best result in European Championship history.
As expected, the Euro 2024 odds have France as the favourite on the moneyline at -190, while the match goal total is set at 2.5.
Austria vs. France Betting Odds
France is a perennial contender at the European Championship. Les Bleus won the Euros in 1984 and 2000, and they finished as runners-up when they hosted in 2016. Austria has never won a major international tournament, but they enter Euro 2024 riding momentum that has seen Das Team score in 17 straight games across all competitions.
Austria and France have went head-to-head 25 times. The French have the edge with 13 wins, while the Austrians took nine matches and three have ended in a draw. The goal differential is incredibly tight between the teams, with France outscoring Austria by just one goal in all-time head-to-head action.

France enters Euro 2024 with the second-shortest odds to win the tournament at +400 on the Euro 2024 futures board, trailing only England at +350. Austria is +5000 to win the tournament and -135 to reach the Round of 16.
French captain Kylian Mbappe is a good bet at +400 to be the top goalscorer at Euro 2024. Mbappe won the Golden Boot at the 2022 World Cup after scoring eight goals and he was the top goalscorer in Ligue 1 last season with 27 goals. England captain Harry Kane is also a good pick. Kane’s 36 goals in the Bundesliga earned him the European Golden Shoe award and his eight Champions League goals tied him with Mbappe as the top goalscorers.
Austria
Austria is coming into Euro 2024 on a roll. Das Team is unbeaten in their last seven matches, including a 2-0 statement win in a friendly against Germany last year. Manager Ralf Rangnick’s savvy on the sidelines was a direct reason why Austria averaged less than a goal conceded per game during qualifying while losing just one game to Belgium.
Austria was dealt a big blow with the losses of injured stars David Alaba and Xaver Schlager weeks before the tournament. Still, this is a team that relies more on tactics than individual performances. They’re a hard working squad that is well drilled and instructed, which could easily frustrate the French. Austria will certainly be in tough against France, but this match could be closer than people expect.
France
France is a motivated team following their loss in the 2022 World Cup final. They’ve only been beaten twice since the 2022 World Cup, both against Germany, and they cruised through Euro qualifying with seven wins and one draw. France has never lost their opening match at the Euros, winning six times and playing to three draws. The last time they faced Austria, they left with a 2-0 victory in the 2022 UEFA Nation’s League.
Mbappe is the most important piece of this roster. Set to move to La Liga club Real Madrid for the upcoming season, the 25-year-old Mbappe leaves Paris Saint-Germain as the club’s all-time top goalscorer and he’s the seventh-highest goalscorer in Ligue 1 history. On the international stage, he was the second-highest goalscorer when France won the World Cup in 2018 and he set the record for most goals scored in World Cup final matches after his hat-trick in the final of the 2022 World Cup.
Austria vs. France Prediction
Austria 0, France 2
