Tunisia Players to Watch

Wahbi Khazri is listed as a midfielder, but he will probably play further up to try and get Tunisia an attacking threat. He has 12 goals in 35 games for Tunisia, and he has played much better at Rennes after struggling for Sunderland. Midfielders Mohamed Amine Ben Amor and Ghailene Chaalali are also very solid players.

Tunisia Strengths

Midfield is probably the biggest strength that Tunisia has. Ben Amor, Chaalali and Ferjani Sassi are not world beaters, but they can hold their own on their best day. Khazri can also drop back to help them out. Tunisia will have to load up in the middle of the pitch – especially against Belgium and England. But if everyone plays to their potential, a point is not out of the question for Tunisia.

Tunisia had some injury worries coming into the World Cup. Ben Amor, Chaalali and defender Ali Maaloul were all hurt prior to the tournament. They are going to play, but how close to 100% are they? Also, the loss of forward Youssef Mskani could turn out to be huge. His 14 goals leads all current Tunisia players, and that is why Khazri has to play further up the pitch now.

If either underachieves – and Belgium and England have done that before – Tunisia could be a surprise team.
