Inter Milan vs. Genoa Serie A Preview and Prediction
Genoa are in trouble. The Grifone have shone well in recent weeks, sporting a 3-2-2 record in their past seven matches. However, although they sit 14th in Serie A, the club are just three points above relegation in a crowded field, as just five points currently separate 13th from 18th place.
And now, after whipping Torino 3-0 over the weekend, the club’s reward is a trip to the San Siro on Sunday to face what should be a thoroughly ticked off Inter Milan side.
The Nerrazzurri are having a splendid time at the top of the table, having gone unbeaten in 12 league matches to move 10 points clear of second-place AC Milan. After finishing second to Napoli last season, Inter are poised to win its second Scudetto in the past three seasons.
However, the club Genoa is facing on Sunday is also no longer a participant in the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League thanks to an embarrassing defeat to Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt in the playoff round. A 2-1 setback at home sent Inter packing, and they’re now looking for someone to take their frustration out on.
Good luck, Genoa!
Inter Milan vs. Genoa Odds and Betting Trends
Inter is a -300 favourite to win on the Serie A odds, while Genoa is a +825 underdog and a draw is +450.
Inter Milan is 16-2-8 against the spread this season in Serie A, including 8-5 ATS at home. Genoa is 2-5-5 straight up and ATS on the road in league play.
Inter has gone 7-3-3 to the over in 13 league games at San Siro, where it has outscored opponents 36-12. The Grifone have played to the over 8 times in 12 league road contests this season. They have tallied 15 goals and surrendered 19 away from home for a -4 differential.
Inter Milan
The Nerrazzurri will be without multiple key pieces to their championship run. Lautaro Martinez, who led Inter in goals during its 2023/24 Scudetto campaign, currently paces Serie A with 14 league tallies, five better than Como’s Nico Paz. However, he is out until next month with a calf injury.
Martinez assisted Yann Bisseck’s sixth-minute opener and scored himself in the 38th minute in Inter’s 2-1 triumph over Genoa at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in December.
Hakan Çalhanoglu is also out with a thigh injury.
Don’t fret, as the club has done a great job spreading the wealth offensively. Ten players have scored 12 goals as Inter is a perfect 5-0 in league play in February.
Genoa
The Grifone saw Brooke Norton-Cuffy, Caleb Ekuban, and Junior Messias all find the net in their 3-0 pasting of Torino on the weekend. Norton-Cuffy is nursing a tender thigh, but should be ready to go on Sunday.
Genoa’s two leading scorers, Lorenzo Colombo (six goals) and Ruslan Malinovskyi (five goals, three assists), both featured in the win over Torino.
Who Will Win Inter Milan vs. Genoa?
Inter may be without leading scorer Martinez for this one, but defender Federico Dimarco will feature, who leads the league with 13 assists, and he is on a roll.
The 28-year-old Italian has six assists in four Serie A appearances in February. Inter are 9-1 this season when Dimarco has recorded at least one assist. He was kept off the board against Genoa in December, but he may not be denied this time around.
The Inter side coming into Sunday’s match knows the Scudetto is the prize, and the biggest reward remaining for them this campaign. Look for the Nerrazzurri to run away with this one, 4-1.
