Tottenham vs. Newcastle English Premier League Preview and Prediction
The 26th week of the English Premier League season kicks off on Tuesday, with the fourth round of FA Cup occurring over the weekend.
Arsenal are the frontrunners by six points and are likely uncatchable by most at this point. Teams like Newcastle and Tottenham are now scrapping to stay out of the bottom third of the table, and a loss for Tottenham here could be worrying. Both teams are in desperate need of three points, so this matchup at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium should be one for the books.
Tottenham vs. Newcastle English Premier League Odds and Betting Trends
While Tottenham is a much more established club with nine more wins in the fixture overall (74), dating back to 1904, the Spurs have only won three of the last 10 meetings since the 2021/22 season. Newcastle has won six of their recent 10, with only one draw occurring in their last confrontation (2-2) in the Premier League earlier this season on December 2.
While the trophy this year is out of reach, both sides are still quality enough to progress in the 2026 Champions League, with Newcastle gearing up for the playoff round first leg in two weeks. It’s also no surprise to see Tottenham as +180 underdogs at their own home stadium for this matchup, given their poor performances at home this season. Newcastle comes in as the +140 favourites, even after dropping many points, with a draw priced at +260.
Newcastle
Four of Newcastle’s last five games in all competitions involved big matchups, one of which ended in a draw with PSG, alongside losses to Liverpool, Manchester City, and Aston Villa. They’ve allowed too many goals for their liking in their last three games (10), and returned to the Premier League to suffer a 3-2 loss at the hands of Brentford on Saturday.
Anthony Gordon suffered a light hamstring injury against City last Wednesday, which could be a huge factor in this game, although he’s tentative to play for this one. He’s still set to score anytime at +390 odds and will be the main man at the Magpies midfield, with Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa the highest likely scorers for the team at +185 and +210 odds, respectively.
Tottenham
Tottenham are treading on thin ice this season, as a loss in this matchup could put them one spot above relegation at 29 points. Their last two games were against both Manchester sides, with their most recent bout ending in a 2-0 loss to United. The Spurs have yet to win a Premier League match since December 28 and a league home game since December 6, showcasing countless vulnerabilities on home turf, which could very well be apparent for this one.
Spurs have also only scored more than two goals in a single Premier League fixture twice the whole season, stemming back to a 3-0 win against Everton on October 26, 2025. Dominic Solanke (+205) leads the charge in this matchup for his team, along with Mathys Tel (+290), both with only five goals combined this season, a stat that fully encapsulates offensive team issues. This is especially true with leading goalscorer Richarlison (seven goals this season) sidelined with a hamstring injury.
English Premier League Prediction: Who Will Win Tottenham vs. Newcastle?
There are several game-changers to consider for this one, the first being that Tottenham is once again at home, where they have dropped the majority of points this season. The second is that without Richarlison on the pitch, Spurs don’t have too many threatening offensive options, with defender Micky Van de Ven being the next highest team goalscorer with four goals.
Anthony Gordon’s potential absence for the Magpies may be an even bigger deal for Newcastle, who’ve struggled in recent matches, yet many of them were tough teams (PSG, Liverpool, City, Aston Villa), which makes their lacklustre form slightly more excusable.
Given Tottenham’s continuous issues at home in the EPL and difficulty in finding the back of the net, Newcastle’s rough patch, and their last match ending 2-2 earlier this season, another draw, possibly 1-1, looks to be in store for this one at +260.
